You're right Craig.  It was a joke.  Ordinarily I'd laugh with you, but there are a lot of people that put a lot of hard work into AOTY, and I feel they deserve more than jokes.  I'm sorry for singling you out.  Bro hug!

I thought we weren't allowed to joke anymore about all this AOTY stuff.  Its cool though. You are right. AOTY has evolved into something I no longer care to support.

After much deliberation, the committee has decided to keep Sails in a separate division (just like the last 2 years). This decision is based on multiple factors; the least of which was complaints from certain people. It is based mainly on reasonable, valid concerns that sails may provide an unfair advantage. And the point of AOTY is to have FUN competing against each other and challenging ourselves to become better anglers, divers, and watermen (and waterwomen  ). I apologize if this has caused any of our brethren to suffer emotional distress. And I hope this encourages more people to join the competition.
I will go back to the first post and edit it now to make it crystal clear. As Taylor Swift says "Sailors gonna sail, sail, sail..." 

I would have to say that after reading this entire thread, that the anti-whiners are the ones that are whining   Maybe some other stuff was deleted, but I see most people speaking openly and honestly about how they feel about things such as sails and plaques, and maybe some fish lip stuff.  Seriously this is probably the least outrageous AOTY thread that I've have read! I will just say that sails = no is a good choice.  I hope that there are still Seans plaques for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, which are the real prizes IMHO.  And if you allow SUP's, you should allow float tubes, or anything that floats under human power.  Damn what a whiner I am!!!

And BTW, i'm playing next year, even though I will not have time to really compete

The piano intro alone tosses me into my past, and ready to bend out the high vocal intro...all of sudden it is 197? again and I'm digging through my Big brothers records and looking at the art work on the covers...trying to see the meaning

 After reading this thread and some reflection, please disregard my interest in using a SUP to fish and participate in the AOTY. I hope that those who choose to play have a great time expanding their fishing comfort zones and spending time on the water with other competitors.
