My 16 yo car is barking at me.
What do you like for our kayak life style?
Considering a Subaru outback even though I will never have stickers on the car[emoji16]
Will the Subaru go on to beach beach launch sites well or should I look at a 4WD?
Your input is welcomed.

I have an 01 4Runner with 230000 miles on it and never had a single issue with it.

My GF has an 07 with 150000 miles on it, probably the majority from me driving it fishing, and has had zero issues with it.

Guess what my next vehicle will be...

I currently ride a Land cruiser which I want to pass onto my daughter but putting an Adventure Island is difficult and 13 mpg stings too
I have always been a Toyota man, probably 10 in my lifetime. I am thinking a lower vehicle for ease  of loading a yak.

I've had several Subaru cars.  They are all wheel drive and the easiest car I've ever worked on, bar none.  I recommend them.

Can't beat an Outback.  Pretty good MPG and they will go anywhere you want to go.

I bought a Forester couple of months ago. Little more headroom then the outback. I'm liking it. It has a surprising amount of power for 2.5 four banger.

Love my 4Runner and My Outback  :smt003  But really depends on where your going which one is best.  I can say that most places doesn't really matter.  But some like TC, OC and Shelter Cove I would much rather bring my 4Runner. :smt002

Do you wish for more ground clearance in a wagon?

How do you like the cvt on Forester?
I had a nissan rental with cvt and thought it was extremely unpleasant to drive.

My Outback has a CVT,  It seemed a little weird at first but now it seems very natural not to feel the shifts like a traditional automatic transmission.  The steering wheel shifter paddles are great on roads like Hwy 1 up around Jenner and north.

I don't like the momentary loss of power when I'm downshifting to go faster. Seems like a longer pause then most cars.
