Like I had said in the OP, though, I do have a motorcycle too. I haven't ridden much out here though. I just keep going back and forth on selling it to have more to spend on the yak. That or need to find people to ride with. The best ride I've had so far was an out of the blue ride from Sac to lake Tahoe, up the west side of the lake, and then back to Sac on 80.

I (sometimes) regret selling my Trek Y-Foil 66 last year.  It took me years to find one & then I only kept it for a year or two.  I catch myself looking online for one again every now and then

I sold a couple of my Giants before we moved. But, I have a bike addiction. I need to have one bike for every situation.

Thought I'd post a couple bicycling pics  to combat motorcycle thread jack. One is going up the Geysers road. The guy in green/white set the record for the Mt. Tam double last year. Really good rider. The other is me on top of Coleman Valley looking north toward the Russian River. Nothing like a bicycle for enjoying the landscape.

I had mountain bikes for years...rode bike more than I drove for 30 years...grew up at the very front end of the bmx craze..before it had a name..older brothers with tricked out sparkle banana seat schwins ....the first real purpose built bmx's were coming out..I was king of 4th grade with a G-Boy bmx bike..lifetime warranty..went through two frames before they went belly up...then mountain bikes...the old heavy steel frame no suspension tougher than any bikes I ever rode since...heavy tough bikes..ride em like a dirt bike on the street and get anywhere quicker than any car in town.....full law breaking by todays ride ethic standard but went un noticed in the late 80's early 90's...for a few years a bike was often my mode of transport....I would catch folks on road bikes and groups of road bikes on the long stretches between s.l.o and morr bay..on a fat tire mountain bike...
In upstate n.y I had an old english 1940's(cant remember name) bike for a while  for cruising town...super cool....and a big frame raleigh grand prix vintage road bike that FLEW...

now I have an xxxl frame giant mountain bike that gathers dust as I creep above 300 lbs...too much for the bike to handle..or me to peddle...

These are my main rides. The Gary Fisher is my wife's. That was after the lake Clementine loop last time we road up by foresthill.

I love when a guy asks "does anyone ride?" and is talking about bicycles..and then us motorcycle guys totally ripp off his thread...here is us last night riding P.G for the sunset  :smt003

Nice. I'm currently down to one in the stable, my KTM 350 dual sport, that has to serve all my riding purposes. Been waiting for something to come out that has the retro styling, simple but powerful motor, and modern FI. And I think it's finally here.

24 hours of Moab sounds like fun. That is one of my favorite places in the world.
I also keep hearing about the Death Ride out here, and think that I need to attempt it at some point.

Jfred,

I started riding again October 2013. Have a '08 Kestrel Talon road bike. Since then, have joined organized rides like the 50 mi. Coyote Creek Classic (October 2013), Monterey Sea Otter/Gran Fondo Metric Century (April 2014), Marin Metric Century (Aug 2014). The longest ride so far has been 63 miles only. I have also found out that if I don't sign up for an organized Classic Ride, I don't practice religiously. Just can't get the discipline.

That said, I'm actually training for the Sacramento Full Century this October 25, 2014. It's a first for me and decided to take this challenge since it only claims a 1000 feet elevation gain over the 100 mile route. That's in your neck of the woods and I would be happy if you can join me. Novofish/Tony would be joining me along with 4 other friends (non ncka).

Been reading/learning a lot on different training techniques (mostly from Trainor Chris Carmichael): intervals, spinning, recovery, riding a hill, pedaling power, increasing lactate thresholds/aerobic capacity.

Anyways, if I don't see you on the road, I'll see you OTW. Both ways will work.

Danny

I've been looking for more people close to ride with. The October 25th may be tough with the fishin cleanup that I would like to be involved in. I do know that the Giro d Vino in Lodi is coming up. I did it last year on my first weekend in Cali. after the move. It was a lot of fun. Only about 50 miles on the long ride, but we did stop at all 14 wineries for tastings. The wind wasn't that fun, but completely worth it.

Combining the ride with wine tasting must be woozy fun  :smt002.
Novofish would be your man. He's local to you.
I do visit my son in Yuba at least once per month and bring the ride with me.
