My road bike was a Trek Y-Foil & I've had a few Trek (y-foil) Y-22's for mbk riding.  They are both older designs but still super lite, even by todays standards.

My wife's Gary Fisher is the same way. She has a mid 90's hoo koo e koo, and that bike is amazingly light even with the old rock shox on the front.

I used to ride just about every day but have not been on a motorcycle since I retired over 2.5 years ago (I was a government fleet mechanic and my job was to keep 27 Police Harley Davidson motorcycles running and on the road).  I do miss riding but I felt I was pushing my luck, more than a few times people would look right at me and then pull out in front of me and I always rode with the high beam on.  I also sold my XR650L Honda dual sport, it was a blast to ride but only had 1100 miles on it since it was new in 07.  I do still have a Trek mountain bike but it is hanging in the rafters with flat tires.
Fishing is cheaper than therapy!

Yes, I am a rider, mostly on Touring Motorcycles.

'05 Yamaha Fjr 1300a (Galaxy blue) 67,000+ miles and pulling strong.

'02 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 64,000+ miles. Rode it to Cambria RT yesterday (approx 70 miles).

Note; Will trade this bike for a Hobie Rev 16 or a Pro Angler 14.

I live in SLO county. Bikes have been stored under roof.

Some of the people that I see splitting at highway speeds are just crazy. We weren't allowed to split in Indiana, but also didn't have a helmet law.

It may look crazy, but it's not if done prudently. It's the greatest thing about riding in CA. Never sit in traffic, never worry about becoming a sandwich, and puts the rider in control of his safety. If you don't, or never have filtered/shared lanes that's fine, but don't assume it's anymore dangerous that sitting in stop and go traffic waiting to be rear ended. It's actually much safer.

The ones that scare me are the ones weaving in and out while traffic is doing 55+.

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.
