I don't "boycott" seems childish and whiny, I just chose to not do business as an adult with companies I disagree with. I dint feel the need to drum up support to validate my feelings. Where can I buy this white cheddar mac n cheese we speak of?

Maybe I'm using the word wrong,  but I use the word "boycott" to =  a short way to say "I chose to not do business as an adult with companies I disagree with"

did i oversleep by like 2 months?

Aren't all modern crops effectively "GMO"?
Corn was a nasty little grass, wheat too before we (humans) started GM'ing them...Apples-check, oranges- check, tomatoes- check. Everything we eat has been modified, even the darn miners lettuce up the street we've managed to GM through artificial selection...

I think we're getting confused between GMO and herbicide, fertilizer & pesticide application.

Some people object to the simple fact that they are modified in a science lab. Others are more upset about the purpose of the modifications. A lot of crops are modified so they will be resistant to weed killers. That means the food you eat may have a higher level of herbicide residue. Both sides have their beliefs about the safety of the herbicide residues. For a lot of people it is expressed as opposition to GMO's in general.

Anyone who eats corn, rice, and wheat (basically everyone other than the 100% amazonian hunter gatherer) relies upon GMO for their diets.  Even though they aren't cultivated using contemporary genetic vectors, those three staple grain crops (along with nearly all other farmed foods) are undeniably GMO.

Suggest reading An Edible History of Humanity (Standage 2009).  Its biased, but largely factual.

Received an email from Annies CEO today....just to continue the length of the thread!
He pretty much says they own us but we'll do what we want...we'll see

John Foraker, Annie's CEO

To Our Loyal Fans,

By now, you’ve likely heard the news that Annie’s will be joining General Mills’ natural and organic food business. We are truly excited about this opportunity and believe it will allow us to expand the organic and natural products that you, our loyal fans, have come to love over the last 25 years. In fact, you can expect to see more Annie’s products in more stores in your area as a result of this combination.

One of the main reasons that Annie’s was founded, all those years ago, was to show that one could build a successful business by producing better products made without all sorts of chemicals and additives prevalent in most packaged food, and by running the company with a sharp focus on sustainability and corporate social responsibility. We always thought that if we could succeed in doing this, we could influence many other companies to do the same, and significantly expand our positive impact on the communities we serve. Indeed, over the past years we’ve done exactly that, as many of our vastly larger competitors have removed artificial flavors and colors, moved to recycled paperboard, and have found real business purpose in operating their businesses in a more sustainable fashion. We are very proud of that impact; it is why we exist.

Combining Annie’s brand, people, and intense and unrelenting focus on our values and mission, with a global company with the vast capabilities and reach offered by General Mills, represents a significant step forward in our ability to positively impact the world. Importantly, we also believe this strategic combination will help us to further fuel the organic industry. With General Mills’ resources, we’ll be able to introduce more consumers to Annie’s, to expand the breadth and availability of our products, and ultimately, to drive demand for organic, non-GMO ingredients – this is great for consumers, for farmers, and for the planet we all share.

We understand that you may have concerns about this change, and we want to assure you that Annie’s has never been a company that compromises on its values. We will remain dedicated to real food; simple, organic, non-GMO and natural ingredients; a clean planet and sustainable business practices. Our position on GMOs will not change, and we are committed to transparency on this issue, as we’ve always been.

Since 2011, Annie’s has donated more than half a million dollars to both national and state-level pro-GMO labeling initiatives and, in fact, we recently pledged our financial support to both the Oregon and Colorado Right to Know Campaigns. General Mills understands and respects the importance of our position on this issue as part of the integrity of the Annie’s brand. And fortunately, there are already several examples of companies that do not always share the same ideas as their parent companies – Honest Tea and Coca Cola; Stonyfield and Danone; Ben & Jerry’s and Unilever. One of the greatest things about these partnerships is that it provides an opportunity for both companies to teach and learn from one another…and at the end of the day, it’s okay to agree to disagree.

In the end, the most important thing we can do to continue to drive positive change in the food system is to build and grow Annie's as a shining example of what is possible. By doing that, we believe we can influence General Mills in a positive way, as well as many others in the industry. We hope you will continue to watch us walk the talk and prove to you that our mission and values will not change. There are great things ahead for the Annie’s brand and now, more than ever, we truly value the loyal support of fans like you.

With your help, we’ll continue to make goodness grow!

Sincerely,
 John Foraker, Annie’s CEO

Non GMO? Did they find some seed grain Jesus hid in a coffee can to grow their own crop? It's all GMO. Kinda like fishing with a walmart rod, claiming that was the way Jesus did it. Cracks me up.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
