Got home this evening.  Will start the reports with this.  That's a 105 pounder Rudy is holding.

catching must be easy up there that all three you you fit on that yak and caught fish!  funny tho, how fish size seems inverse to person size...

This was our last day of kayak fishing, and we had a somewhat "sporting" day at that with the wind up and the swell opposing it.  The day before, Mark (the guy on the left) caught a 60+ pound model.  Earlier in the week, I caught a 51 pounder.  All 3 of these fish came from the same hole.

We did have a couple days of tough fishing.  We did a little bit of exploring, but just had to go back to this spot because of the potential.  That means we left some other promising spots untouched.  I could use a couple more weeks on Kodiak to really explore the kayak fishing opportunities, but from what I've seen, I like Kodiak.  It's got potential.

That's an A1 buoy with 29 pounds of lift.  How long did it stay down?

Too bad we can't do that in California.

We also did it with large shark hooks and a buoy ... ala flying gaff.

Awesome!  Thanks for the teasers Allen.  Can't wait to read the full report.

Was this a DIY trip or did you use one of the lodges?  Plenty of nice halibut around Kodiak even inside Womens Bay!  I'd love to get stationed back up in Alaska one day!!  I did three years on a Coast Guard buoy tender up there and got to see a lot of the coast line.  I've been to just about every port from the tip of the Aluetians all the way back down and around to Seattle.  There are very few "bad" spots to be up there where fishing is concerned!

DIY trip.  We rented a house in Kodiak and hit the road system for launches.
