I've heard of/seen kayakers doing any number of tactics to clean their kayaks from just a simple hose rinse between uses, to a sponge and warm water with a few drops of dish soap, to special liquid plastic cleaner, to liquid car wash solution and I'm just wondering if there's a consensus among NCKA folks on the topic. My kayak is getting beyond the "simple rinse off" point and needs a new coat of UV protectant so I thought I'd get it cleaned up sometime this week. Needless to say, it made me wonder what everyone else does.

Mine was bad, I had to use scotch bright, to get blood off my yak. Some of it was my blood. All good now. Start with the finest scotch bright first and see how it works.

Why would you want to wash away the fish aroma? (j/k)  :smt003

I use a smidge of dawn and wash everything down, then rinse inside outside drain and store.  All of my gears gets solid  soaking then a rinse, and hung dry and put a way, keeps the funk monster away.

I have a 4x8 card that I laminated with packing tape that tells me how to put it back in the flight bag I use to carry everything so can get to it the right order, anal yes, but then I know its packed and ready to go, without going crazy looking for it.  I have reminders to take my FL, Phone, and Radio off the morning off.  I deal with ADHD and PTSD, so I have  to overcome shortcomings.

I don't have ADHD (as far as I know  :smt001) but routinely forget or leave things behind.  Last time I went out I left the cooler with the water by the front door.  A card with a list of essentials is a great idea.  Gonna make one up today and put it in my pickup then read it before I pull out next time.  Now I just have to remember to read it

I leave the kayak on my roof rack and go to the car wash, not only do I keep my kayak clean that way I am able to blast any salt off my car at the same time. (yes I take it off the rack) I take my little kid with me and we make it a fun time singing made up "kayak song"s and generally yuckin' it up.

I use a hose to take the salt off. The mojo stays on.

Exactly, quickest secondary inspection at the Tecate entrance by US Customs ever was when I left a fish in the hull of my Hobie.  Sent on my way with a wave.

I scrub mine with Orca urine. Very expensive unless you bottle it yourself. But it keeps the sharks away.

If you have a grommet zip tie to the bag, it holds up well.  I have another card I use for drill weeknds, make packing for the National Guard quick and easy. Trying to do the same thing at work or the emergency supplies, just have tooo much other stuff going on.
