Organized potlucks are a drag, imo.  Either too much food or not enough.  We ate at the Flats Cafe instead because we didn't have enough room to bring food for 200+.  Go back to the informal, normal NCKA way and people can cook a normal amount of food and share it with who they want to.

A couple suggestions for the potluck;
1. More tables so it's not just a single line.
2. A check-in with your dish, not just drop-offs, gets you a wrist band that gets you in line.  That means if you have a family of 4, say, then bring enough food to have fed a family of four at least in order to get 4 wrist bands.

Our bacon wrapped, cheese filled, BBQ roasted jalapeno peppers barely made it to the table as we walked over from Schooners.  I'm glad folks seemed to enjoy them!

Barely got some of the carrot cake, but seems folks were too picky to go for the scrappies.  I love the scrappies!!  Yum!  Best carrot cake yet.

Thanks Jerry - I know, the carrot cake went fast! But I also noticed people taking huge portions (rather than seeing all those still waiting in line and opting to cut themselves a smaller piece). I froze it like you suggested, and iced it just before bringing it over.

Love the idea of the wrist bands and contribution sizes! Like Craig, I noticed the same thing with people eating and not bringing anything to the potluck. But I don't think it should be seriously policed either...tough to find a middle ground.

Forgot to mention.....

SolSurfr1 and I saw a guy Unknown to me at least in the club in a hand made yak with 2 side kicks no rod holder hook into a pig and was towed f'n backwards for 15 minutes spooling the shit out of him!!!!  he almost got flipped in his skinny ass contraption that he built,  couldn't believe it..... come prepared or go home....I stopped fishing and kept an eye on the guy till the fished spooled him.  No offense to the guy for being new to the salt but need to come prepared for at least a hook up!!!!.....haha maybe I'm bitter cause I had no hook up on pink.....possibly

Enough with the pot luck! Here's what it's all about! My bro with his first Kayak Ling!!!! First time fishing the Ocean from a Kayak... Sabiki MadNeSs!!!!

I have to inspect some roofs in Fort Bragg next Friday and La Verne in So Cal next Monday and all I want to load my yak next to my ladder just in case weather's kind and I can sneak out for a few hours. How can you work once you fully catch this fever!

My kayak is on my truck almost every day of the year just in case.  My buddy Mke that was with me at Albion lives in LaVerne, hit him up when you head down. I bet he will fish with you down here. He is Lastcast on NCKA. Send him a PM. Maybe yo can deliver something to him he left in the motorhome if you don't mind.
