Why do we (guys) always think that the things that excite and impress us will also impress the girls?  Some times it does but more times than not, its a guy thing and we are totally off base.  Although, without that incentive, we might never have achived anything.  :smt002

Hey sackyak!
Bring your hacky next time and we'll hack it up after yakking. I used to be really good. Might not be that good anymore but I would really enjoy a good volley!
Can you imagine trying to make your legs work after sitting in a yak for 5 hours? Sounds like a good way to stretch and get the lactic acid out to prevent cramps and fatigue.

Sin,

All you have to do is ask.  I almost always have one with me.  Don't leave home without it is my philosphy.  I used to really like doing a dual kayak/cycling workout to cover both the upper and lower body.  I found that the kayaking would really work out the kinks in my back left from the cycling.  I assume the footbag will be similar but sometimes I can hardly stand up once I ht the beach after a long fishing trip.  It could be interesting and humbling to try to perform after fishing but I am game if time allows.  Have you ever played footbag net (over a badminton net)?  It is huge fun and usually requires that we go to Santa Cruz or the SF Bay to get a good game although there are a few players in Monterey.

I got stuck with the "Spider" nickname about 15 years ago, for various reasons, amongst a group of long time friends.  Like most names that we dont get to pick, it stuck.  Since then Ive used it for handles, such as for this site.
Most have us have seen spiders doing the waterwalk trick, the glide across the water with the wind trick, or maybe even fortunate enough to see one with a aquatic victim, usually a small bait fish.  When watching this from a kayak and fishing, I could not help but feel a kinship with the creature that inspired my nickname, no matter the origin of why I got tagged  "the spider".

JTF.. is an abreviation from my screen name when I use to post on PierFishing.com.  It is shortened from johnthefisherman69, .. is for 69, the year I was born.  Most pierfishers have trouble spelling, even when the words are right in front of them so they shortened it for me!  :smt005 :smt005

Through that sight and some hookups for sturgeon fishing I met some of the guys here.  I met elric(hobiewankenobie) when I first moved to the bay area from that sight and he kept buggin me about gettin a kayak.  Best move I ever made.  Soon after gettin my hobie, I started paying attention to this sight more often.  SInce i've been here, my name has taken on some new meanings.

Johnthugfisherman-for harrasing pier fishers from my kayak. :smt003

Jacktripperfisherman-because I live in a big house in oakland hills with 3 hot girls. :smt003

Johnthresherfisherman-I caught a 7' thresher fishing by myself out at linda mar this year. freaky.

Pretty obvious. I've been fishing for many years now and I've always loved watching the sea birds. I vividly remember my first salmon fishing excursion, it was close in to shore at Monterey. We were in a 12' aluminum car topper. There were salmon rolling all over the place, huge bait balls slipping under the boat, guys hooked up all around us and Pelicans crashing into the fray with complete abandon! It was a real "Being Alive" experience, and the Pellies were a big part of it. I really love to see them sailing just above the water in 'GLIDE' mode with their wing tips just touching the surface like a camoflaged Stealth Bomber. Just picked up my first yak and can't wait to get CLOSER!  Tom

Since I was a jeeper, long befor I started to fish on a regular basis, I used the letters  "jpr" for Jeeper  I used to have "Jeepertroy" but got tired of typing out the whole thing, so I shortned it to jpr.  The last part is prety obvious.

You know you want to!  :bootyshake: :sign10:

I haved used this name quite a bit in other forums.  I have lived in 7 states in my 30 years and have caught fish in many more than that!  I hit the 100 mark in species a couple of years ago and have lost count now.  I'll be with you guys only a short time, but those of you I have fished with have been some of the friendliest and open fisherpersons I have ever been around.  Thank you!
