One thing I notice all these guys set their paddles w a twist probably to cut down wind resistance but also looks like it would be better for your wrists

Anybody know about that?

Both inspirational and humbling. Im not even close but it might be possible.
With seasonal changes upon me, spending my time on the water upside down will become significantly less recreational. So, if I am going to make any more progress this year, it needs to happen soon.
I need to be focused on continuing to develop the midshaft roll and even start working on rolling the other side of the boat. At best I could try a shorter paddle. Goals that seem reasonable.
There is a part of me though that needs to know if Its reasonable/possible for me to roll a more practical fishing platform. Its almost time for me to start fishing again anyway.

It's all about the hip snap. Been in the ww boat for the last month and reminded me of many of the fundamentals, hip snap key among them. Head comes up last. Been working on the back deck roll personally, my left and right roll are pretty bombproof, but that would have 0 use in a sot.

Looks cool. But my offseason exercise program is whitewater paddling.  :smt003
I'm actually surprised more folks aren't interested in expanding their kayaking enjoyment into this realm. There are hundreds of miles of class I, II, and III water that opens up innumerable scenic and fishing opportunities as well as the fun of mild, not too dangerous rapids.

Thanks for sharing this! very interesting.
I also plan on training this winter. Mostly swimming, plyometrics, and time on the ENDOboard to help with stand up fishing, but this looks like it could be beneficial to my SOT rolling interests.
I need to get stronger and more flexible to roll the Tarpon 140.

The greenland paddles also have my attention. Although I think my next paddle purchase will be a 250 with a WW blade for paddling the Coosa in the elevated chair position.
When I do decide that I need a greenland, I think Ill go with a Novorca product.
So beautiful.

Cool vid man. Saw it on the other thread as well. That's a great view of the roll. Do you just have thigh straps, no seat belt, and that's sufficient to lock you in? It's cool watching a Big SOT roll.

Glad that you enjoyed it.
Yes, just leg straps. It is one of the things that makes it so challenging.
A lot of my focus/strength goes into just keeping my ass in the seat, then working for a solid set up and getting the blade up to the surface can be tough. I hope to increase both my strength and flexibility this winter and hopefully will become more proficient.
I am also going to do some plastic repairs on a scupper pro for a friend and plan on trying to roll it before I move up and re-attempt the T140.

All those trophies in one year? You must have a permanent case of bass thumb. Chicks dig big fish. You're the man!  :notworthy:

Sweet video Terry. You don't seem all that prodigal to me.
