Too much

impressive especially if that's plastic you're sitting on

You should own a Stealth if you don't already

I know it's capable of way more than I do with it like surfing, just haven't had time for it

Thought you pro paddlers might appreciate this, I came across it when I was searching for the Stealth

Hauling tail. Those skis are smokin fast. Thinking I should give the wing another shot.

Wings are great ... for going fast in a straight line.  For kayak fishing, not so great.

Wondering why you think they're no good for kayak fishing? I won't be using flat paddles again and hang on to them strictly for the sake of loaning them to friends

One of the first things I noticed about the Stealth, w following swell it wants to go like a racehorse

it's a skillset by itself, trolling w following swell I actually have to throw my legs out and slow the thing down

The T160 is pretty impressive in nasty conditions, but part of that is sheer bulk and initial stability

I've been at Dux w wind like in the above vids and way bigger swell, the Tarpon was like a comfort blanket except a couple of times when it was submerged

I think it's a way different thing being on a yak that 's responsive and wants to go fast

I think I have a similar experience with them that Hydrospider and Wizz have had.  They are not as good for straight draw strokes or any stroke that relies on the paddle face being drawn in the direction that you wise to go, or braces that require the same positioning.  The wing design requires that water flow over the surface of the blade like air over an airplane wing.  The paddle face is somewhat drawn perpendicular to the direction you wish to go.

Maybe I'm not using mine right, all I know is it moves me faster and I like the way it feels

I only use two basic strokes, grunt stroke and dragging it behind me which I gather is bracing

Maybe ten years ago I tried a wing out at Oakland that I couldn't even keep lined up through the stroke

I think it was some kind of racing paddle, way too big

With my Stealth wing I don't even have to think about my stroke and it catches way more water than my flat paddles It works great straight, turning whatever

Sounds like you might have a hybrid of sorts.  Next time you're out paddling, kick the blade out like a J stroke and see if that changes anything.  Youtube some examples for wing paddle stroke.

Mine is an Edge F1, not a hybrid for sure just not as enormous as the one I tried before which wouldve destroyed my wrists

In rough water situations I've been in I was plenty happy w it

One of these days I'll get interested in some of the fancier techniques, mostly I just want to get around and do the surf landings without breaking my neck

Stealth's description of Edge F1

Quote
A great down river & surf ski blade. Good catch, excelent pull-through phase and beautiful exit. Very comfortable in moving water yet still very good for flat water racing sprint and long distance.Only available in carbon epoxy.Paddle shafts available in fiberglass & 40% carbon.

Wow! the tandem video was fantastic. Packed full of low brace. When he wasn't paddling he was bracing and turning the ski into an outrigger. Thanks for posting that BK.

You should own a Stealth if you don't already

There is one on our list.

We want a light tandem in the 16' zone with deck space enough for our dogs.
Wanted to test this at Headwaters but haven't been able to find a day when both of us can make the trip. I am still searching for my SUP replacement so there isn't a rush and we were also hoping that Eddyline was going to follow up the Caribbean with a thermoform tandem around 16'.

16' is the maximum boat length that the kayak lounge can hold, so a Ski isn't a smart option for me right now. When it is time to go big again, I may stick with Spirit plastic, rig it for fishing, and head south.
That will be a while.

You have found what fits. Enjoy the glide.
You might be using multiple paddle functions. Dragging it behind you may be that you are using a "stern rudder", depending on how you are manipulating the blade.

I drag the paddle like the guys in the video, maybe not quite the finesse but it works

If the 575 didn't fit we wouldn't be living where we are
