So...I get home yesterday and my neighbor shows me a few pictures of a dude that was hiding in my front yard behind some bushes then proceeded to try and get into my pop up camper. Cops won't do a thing because he actually didn't break in or steal anything. So short of me sitting at home with my .45 in my lap I want to look into a security system. Ideally one that can monitor the house (break ins) and the real key for me is a video system (external cameras). I'd like one that can save to the cloud vs a dedicated DVR unit. Anyone got some recommendations?

here is a is pic of the shit-tard!

I have a couple systems but both save to a drive I believe.  Might be an option for it to upload to cloud.  Has 12 cameras or I have a system with more cameras; 16 maybe?.  Feel free to drop me a PM if you are interested.  Both are NIB.

I've been wanting to set up video also. Looked at the systems at Costco. Didn't consider the cloud vs DVR.

I'll keep an eye on this thread. Thanks for posting.

Our sister company Central Coast Sytems installs security cams,.. My friends do the installations, I will ask and see what he suggests.

Here's the info on what I have available for someone interested:

QSee Advanced Series model QC3016 /w 12 Cameras

QSee Premium Series model QC5416-16E2-1 /w 16 Cameras

Both appear to be a 1TB recorder system.  Not sure if that system can be integrated to the "cloud" or not.

I am looking at doing the same thing myself but store the data to a NAS drive stored in my safe with a backup in the attic.

I bet that shit-tard was stupid enough to wear his favorite hat! I'm guessing he'll continue to wear it.

I'd store the drive in the attic in a bolted down, basic 'Lock Box'.  A typical crook isn;t going to waste time finding the attic access & trying to recover the storage drive.  Highly unlikely at least.

A friend at work has a system that will send him a text video when his motion sensor camera senses something at his front door.  He can also look at a video feed on his iPhone any time he wants. Let me know if you want me to find out more about his system.

I heard of a company called simply safe. They have wirless alarm system that doesn't have to be connected to monitoring but if you do they only charge $20 a month. Not sure about video surveillance through a company but I have used several in the past and Costco one is cheap and easy to set up. I had my house presided for the camera system, but some offer wireless options but they may need access to a power source.
