It will be on this year's list however, (which should be up now.)

bushmaster,

I could only find a list as recent as July 23, 2013.  Stinx they only publish a single annual list, instead of a searchable db.  If you can find the link, pls post.  Be interesting to see.

(BTW, I looked for another very notable skipper and didn't see his name on the list !!!  Hope to Gawd my man is not dancing with no music, know what i mean . . . )

Yeah, last year's list came out on 5/22/13.  If you made an app late, you'd not be on it.

If someone had a question about a specific person acting as a guide, or advertising as a guide, they could address the DFW directly.

With that kind if history coming out and multiple transactions going on for hundreds of dollars to low 4 figures, there ought to be a "Wall of Shame" thread. Like down at the corner grocery store where they post up cancelled checks and they stay there until paid + fees. That would be a service to our little growing community.

Is there some sort I way we can know who has a current license or not to guide? Are kayak guides required by law to have guide books on their person like a boat and license for us as paying customers to check?
I'd like to hire a guide for a certain species I can't seem to catch, but don't want to pay someone not following DFG laws.

Ask to see their guide license. And, when you go out with them, you have to fill out your info in their daily log that comes from DFG.

So now I have to ask these two questions one of which MR.Matt might be interested in. Does the the guide have to pass some kind of a test. Or just have insurance, pay a fee and know the laws about fishing. And shouldn't the license be species orientated. I'd hate to hire a Salmon guide to find out all he knows is Bottom fish. And I know as much as he knows.

Word of mouth.

Same way this thread started because someone was not making honest timely deals.

Ask around for a specific guide and I am sure members will step up with suggestions.  The more with positive feedback the better chance they will be good.

Been on guided trips before and once you find a good one that's who you stick with. I would never put my reputation on line with someone that was not top notch.

Spike did a guided RF trip out of TC on 12/15/13.  I was there and spoke to him and his clients.

"Came in and met Spike at the launch who I guess was guiding some folks who did great too."
