We are all immigrants, so as long as anyone wants to come here and make this a better country I am ok with that.  But if you turn out to be a waste on our country, then send them packing!
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Can we nip this in the bud and lock it before it becomes a flame war?

peeps will get pissed and offended no matter what who thinks or writes. this is not a good thing for a diverse group to address online or around camp.

Darius,,,,,go back to PI and think about what you've done in your short time back here in the land of milk&honey.  :smt002

I work in the people business = recruiter. Given this countries current ability to educate and grow technically skilled workers we are doomed if we don't allow/promote/increase the ability to import talent. I do tend to agree being in America and all that it affords is a tremendous privilege, people that abuse that shouldn't be allowed to remain. One could even stretch this argument to less skilled roles (agriculture, general laborers, etc) without immigrants we'd grind to a halt

I am really at a juxtapose on this  issue.  All of us, even the Native American's came from somewhere else.  There are some very disgusting, shameful things that have been done to minorities immigrants seeking away into this country.  But there were shameful disgusting things done to immigrants who were not minorities, just not English  immigrants.

That said, I am not in favor of non citizen who came here illegally, demanding rights ahead of someone who waited their  turn in tthe process. Some of you or your families may have come here as refugees from another country and waited for the system to  accept you.  What is your opinion of this process.

I doubt seriously we could ever send 11 million (which I think is a low number) of illegals home.  When you think of the long term damage it does, supress wages of the working class, increases healthcare costs, unpaid taxes.

Advantages, cheaper labor means goods/food is cheaper.  How many of us would want to pay more for the food we eat?  Not many, but is right for a farm hand ot get paid the wages they get paid so the rest of us can have cheap food?

There does not seem to be an easy answer, and much of the problem comes form the conditions fromt he country where these people live.  We still get European, African, Asian, and Latin Illegals.  As long as we appear to be a becon economically, spirtually, literally we will have those who wish to come here by any means.

I'm grateful for the privilege being in America, I've met several "Immigrants" in my 16years here in the US, I am helping a friend on her thesis. I'm using the site cause of its diversity.
