Here's a couple pic of my rails on my '14 revo. If I was doing again only diff would be 12" rails on both front and back. I did 12" front and 8" back.  But the scotty and mighty mount takes up almost the whole back rail.

I Have 2 flush-mount Scotty's on the front 2 rails.  I hardly use them.  I really prefer to use my rocket launchers which are mounted to my storage box behind the seat. I posted pictures of the box/mounts  when I built it and should be in the build section if you are interested.   FF is in the mast hole

My rails are all fully backed using the yakattack backing plates. They are threaded which helps with installation... Install of the rear was a pain due to all of the foam in the hull but I got it done with rigging bullets.

Chad - I suggest you go with a RAM System for your FF and use Scotty for rod holders.  I gave up on RAM ball mounted rod holders. They would not stay in place and slip even if I put a lot pressure on them.

For freshwater I found out the hard way that the RAM rod holder system would squeak then jerk downwards when I get a hit while trolling.  I am only using a light Rapala J7 or J9 with a 3 to 5 lb trout on the other end.  I always tethered my rods as a safety precaution of falling into the water.  For saltwater using weights over 6 oz or trolling with a diver the RAM would not stay in place.

I only use front scotty mounts for bait fishing. I put together a cheap rod balancer that fits in a Scotty mount.

Chad, I got an extra Micro-RAM ball wedge that fits in the sail mast hole. This thing: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/1596/RAM-Ball-Wedge-Mount-Adapter-10-in-for-Scotty-and-Hobie-Bases.html You can have it free. Then just get the RAM fishfinder mount and run the wires through the hull like normal. Here's the RAM fishfinder mount thingy: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/2565/RAM-Mount-for-Humminbird-and-Lowrance.html

Since deck space is so limited on the Hobie Revo, I advise putting the FF in the mast hole. Especially someone tall. Because if you install it on the side, it'll be in your way (making the deck even more cramped / harder to dangle your feet over the side / harder to self rescue / less space to deal with big fish). Unless you have really poor eyesight or constantly fidget with your FF settings. Or if you don't intend to catch any big fish.  :smt002

Personally I only use front rod holders to stash a rod quickly after netting a fish, or use it for rigging most of the time.  For drift fishing I just tuck it under my leg instead of using a holder.

Since I have a bunch of free Scotty stuff from the FW event, I am considering trying to run this set-up for my planned trip to Lake Powell.  I’ll report back as to how much I hate/like it afterwards.  You may see this table thing for sale afterwards. :smt003

I don't know much about catching big fish.... But I'm A hull affiliated so It does happen I act like it's not a big deal.  :smt002 I got the mount for the ff. I appreciate the offer for the mast mount pat. But I figure I'll just order one up. Thanks for all the input guys  :smt008

Have you rigged it yet?  I am about half way done with my Revo 13 (taking it slow), and I'm curious what you decided on.

I was considering getting an AMA kit for my revo 11, anyone have any pros + cons of this setup, for rough ocean and freshwater for stand-up fishing?

Are you going to the kayak fishing festival at BSS4? Their will be lots to look at and play with. I need to put together a photo album of all the kayaks I've rigged. Rigged a nice T-13 last week with lowrance gear and mark 4 hdi, along with a Cuda 12 and a few Costco boats.

The Sidekick amas do help with stability but the tradeoff is that they create drag which will slow you down while moving. They will help if you want to stand up & cast but none of the Hobie cockpit's except the PA's are designed with flat areas to stand up & cast from so keep that in mind. Really the only advantage to stand up fishing is sight fishing. Once you learn how to adjust to casting while seated in a kayak that is.

There are other benefits to standing up..like getting off your butt! Definitely helps in the soreness department.

I used to stand in my revo from time to time but it was never fun. Always a lot of work to keep balance.

I've never had any problem with that but I've always used an extra foam pad under the stock seat.
Even with the sidekicks on...... standing & casting from the Adventure isn't comfortable because the cockpit wasn't designed for that. I don't think the Revo 11 was either.
My point is......with all of the kayak fishing I've seen here in NorCal very little, almost none is done while standing. Even with the guys that have kayaks like the PA or Cuda 99.99% of the time I see them sitting down to cast. Unless your really 'on the fish' it's much easier to stay seated, make your cast or two, & then move on. That being said I wouldn't mind having a PA12. Nuk nuk.  End threadjack.
