There are other benefits to standing up..like getting off your butt! Definitely helps in the soreness department.

I used to stand in my revo from time to time but it was never fun. Always a lot of work to keep balance.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

I've never had any problem with that but I've always used an extra foam pad under the stock seat.
Even with the sidekicks on...... standing & casting from the Adventure isn't comfortable because the cockpit wasn't designed for that. I don't think the Revo 11 was either.
My point is......with all of the kayak fishing I've seen here in NorCal very little, almost none is done while standing. Even with the guys that have kayaks like the PA or Cuda 99.99% of the time I see them sitting down to cast. Unless your really 'on the fish' it's much easier to stay seated, make your cast or two, & then move on. That being said I wouldn't mind having a PA12. Nuk nuk.  End threadjack.
only time I stood on my pas was to stretch or take a piss thats the 12 and 14
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Chad, I got an extra Micro-RAM ball wedge that fits in the sail mast hole. This thing: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/1596/RAM-Ball-Wedge-Mount-Adapter-10-in-for-Scotty-and-Hobie-Bases.html You can have it free. Then just get the RAM fishfinder mount and run the wires through the hull like normal. Here's the RAM fishfinder mount thingy: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/2565/RAM-Mount-for-Humminbird-and-Lowrance.html

Since deck space is so limited on the Hobie Revo, I advise putting the FF in the mast hole. Especially someone tall. Because if you install it on the side, it'll be in your way (making the deck even more cramped / harder to dangle your feet over the side / harder to self rescue / less space to deal with big fish). Unless you have really poor eyesight or constantly fidget with your FF settings. Or if you don't intend to catch any big fish.  :smt002

I don't know much about catching big fish.... But I'm A hull affiliated so It does happen I act like it's not a big deal.  :smt002 I got the mount for the ff. I appreciate the offer for the mast mount pat. But I figure I'll just order one up. Thanks for all the input guys  :smt008

Have you rigged it yet?  I am about half way done with my Revo 13 (taking it slow), and I'm curious what you decided on.

Kind of taking it slow myself. Went with the rod holders in the crate for now definately want to put one in front of me in due time. But for now it works. Also did the sailing mast ff mount. That's it....  Kind of lame but like u said I wanna take it slow until I know.

My hobie has flush mount Scotty rod holders in the forward area of the cockpit near the Mirage Drive and recently added 2 Yakattak 8" tracs on both sides of the cockpit area. On my ride side I bought a RAM mount for my Lowrance Elite 5 fishfinder and on my left side I got an adapter so that I can use my Scotty rod holder closer to me as I am paddling if I want to.
I like the RAM mount for my fishinder as it is very easy to adjust to whatever postion you want.

I also agree that the Scotty rod holders are very sturdy and it stays in place once you adjust to which ever position you set it in.
I also read the the new REVO 13 has a scupper hole transducer mount already built in under the scupper hole as well as predrilled waterproof holes for wiring and rigging a fishfinder. Seems like it would be a breeze installing the ff.
Take Care,

Not quite as easy as it seems.  If you have certain lowrance transducers it might be easier if they fit on the little post mount on the lowrance cover. if not, it will take a little bit of modification.  Either way you will need long arms to reach the rear hobie thru hull plug.  If you're short like me you might end up with bruises on your arm from where you have to stretch to reach it...like me!

I'm sure this is a minority opinion but I didn't use the mast hole for the fishfinder.  It's just to far away from the seat.  I used a small Ram ball mount and put it inside the gear pocket on the left side.  I used the Hobie thru-hull wiring kit.  The pocket is still available to hold stuff and the fishfinder is easy to see and reach without moving from the seat.  The Hobie battery holder is also a great accessory.  I have mine in the rear hatch which is good for weight distribution as well as making use of a pretty useless storage hatch.

I did the Scotty adapter mounts forward and I use the Ram ball adapter in them to mount my FF to. I'm tall but it seems like a pain to reach  a FF in the sail mount. Also, The screen on my Elite 4 is small and would be harder to see in the sail mount. My Raymarine 5.7 came in today so I'll try mounting it in the sail mount.
Back to the Scotty adapter mounts. If I had it to do over I would put Yak Attack rails in those spots. I have 8" YA rails with backings on both sidesof my seating position.  Buy the rigging bullets, they make mounting in tough spots so much easier. I love the 2008 model Ram rocket launchers  I put on balls on the rails. However Mel and others are right that they do pull down and I therefore leash my rods. Someone posted a mod to keep them up. I'm going to have to do something similar

Matt - The Amas are good to have. I like them for tournament days where the weather might be rough and you need the extra stability. Put them in the high position and there will be no drag issues. The one problem is that when doing a surf landing the bars interfere with your paddle strokes. Can't get full strokes so you have less control coming in

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.

+1 on the amas.  Modifying the paddle stroke with the amas is a little difficult but I have managed to get it good enough for the surf landing I do.

It would be primarily for sight fishing, and pulling up heavy crab pots, the revo 11 is a little small for my size 6'1" 200lbs, but It's worked very well for me none the less. Still need to just try it out regardless.
