Took a long lunch today. Talked to a few wharf rats. And one of my crabber friends who was on scene. Word is there's bait within yak-range (I've seen some serious bird activity offshore the past few days too)...and salmon may have been seen cruising the surf [possibly more lost SC harbor salmon due to their reported size].
We'll just have to wait & see. I'll be out there on 4/6.

Right on Pat.  I'll be fishing on the 5th so I'll be sure to report in.  I might join you on the 6th as well.

Ocean life seems to be coming in early this year?  Have heard of sardines and butts out by capitola, salmon in carmel, and more butts at the ARW!  Guess i'll be giving it a shot out of Monterey for the opener!

So where do you guys Launch

Last year I caught two in Bodega (Doran Beach launch) and one at Duxbury Reef (Bolinas launch). With Muir Beach open again, that's where I'll be concentrating later in the season.

No problemo.

Anyone planning to chase salmon on opening day (kayak or PB)?

I'm not against getting a little exercise even if I don't hear any positive reports. The more trolling I do early on, the longer I'll be able to stay out later in the season when I have the best chance of scoring.

Go early and often.  Last year I skipped the Cove opener because it sounded rough, and they got out and got fish.  I'm there this year if it's at all feasible.

I made the mistake of not going Ocean Salmon fishing when it was Hot last year, no matter where the fish where and just regretted it later when are river Run ended up being a tuff bite of mostly dark fish! I wont be making that mistake this year and will be ready for GS8 and any HOT BITE that takes off. Plus, finally came to the realization that Ocean Run Salmon is THE BEST EATING!

Agree with Ricci. Last years AR run was bizarre. The Feather held way better fish but will be salting it this year also when there are some fish within 3 miles of the beach.

Man... I can't wait... I'll probably start going through my tackle, replacing leaders, sharpening hooks, etc next week.

No fishing for me on the opener. I'm headed down to SLO for the weekend.

Good luck out there Josh. Post up a report, good or bad. They both help.
