X2 great meeting you Jon..thanks for offering help with my seagulls...it only hurts when I look at it...
We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

People aren’t supposed to look back. I’m certainly not going to do it anymore.”

It was also nice hooking up with trianglelaguna. All you guys were great to hookup too.

You Central Coasties let me in the loop when you do more shore fishing. I have a need to fill the tug......

I enjoyed myself and talked to a lot of informed people about their salmon stocking program.  But,  this is my theme so far in 2014.

Thanks to all, son and I got skunked, but had a great time meeting others.  Was intersting watching the seagull C&R.  I did bear witness to this.

Maybe next time we'll all do a little better.

Nice photo Jon!  Is that a famed "Golden Sabre" surfcaster your boy has there?

BTW, DFG was out in force during the event.  I encountered 4 wardens, 3 at Moss and 1 at Zmud.  They didn't ask to search me, but the first 2 did ask to see my license.  These 2 were on quads.  The 3rd guy said the first 2 started in Capitola and were running the beach to Monterrey.

It seemed a bit overkill.

Sorry to say no, not a classic surfcaster, but it was mine as a kid.  Old cheapy from 70's.  I even busted the tip off as a kid and had to have it replaced.  I was hoping for some good mojo, but we're still working on that!!

At Moss I saw them coming from a distance towards the fisherman fishing the bait ball with tons of diving birds overhead. All different kinds of fishing going on that day. :smt004 They did look a little zealous!

I wonder if it was just cause the weekend, or if they were keyed in on the Sand Crab Classic?

I think they were keyed in on it, as it was one of the first questions they were asking.  You should call them and ask.

I know this may draw fire...but...I get along fine with all the DFG guys I've met and even had them give me their card with their own cell and tell me to call if I had any questions.....which I did and got some good tips on big sur and staying legal....
Also had them come out when my niece and I were surrounded by Risso's in the middle of the bay and they made her day and chatted with her...she felt excited to get checked out in the middle of nowhere kinda..

I thought it was awesome to see them on the 4 wheelers at the sand crab classic and felt good knowing they are out protecting and serving...I hoped they caught folks doing dirt and think that is a good place to show that DFG is around and watching....
I grew up by pismo and they and other agencies were always around on drunk beach 4 wheel party crowd weekends...one time I saw them nab some assholes with about 100 clams...all lined out on the beach and giving them the shaft for it....
If They are around I think it's awesome....they have a tough job and have always been super cool to me..my 2 cents

Not sure why that would draw fire.  I get along just fine with DFG too.  I just think they overdid it a bit.  I can go most of the year without seeing one, but to see 4 in one day?

not directed at you Allen or anything you mentioned..I just kind of feel like we got a lot lately of questioning the CaDFG and it poorley written rule book or folks hinting that one does one thing and the next does something other ...or that they are out to frisk me on site...or that they are just waiting to find something small and put it to the average working guy out exercising his constitution....I have been stopped 5 times in this last season and every time I was in compliance and was able to ask and get answers for my gray areas...as well as advice and tips...

I am not saying you or anyone else is ragging on the CaDFG...I just wanted to give credit for the fair and friendly service I've recieved
