The Inland Striped Bass Spearfishing season for SB will not be affected by the river special closures at this time.

So does this mean that the rivers are closed to

Only to All hook and line fishing

Or only to targeting Salmon/Steelhead,

Or is this just another nod to the spearfishing lobby?

...because spearing of SB was already prohibited in the rivers that will be closed?
Or does it mean the powers-that-be have decided spearing of SB helps the other fish that are threatened by low water?
Thanks for the update--but I'm kinda confused.

I'm watching the mtg on cal-span, but I missed the part about emergency stream closures.
http://www.cal-span.org/State_Webcast/stream_index.php?agency=CFG&captioned=false
They're talking about the proposed Klamath regs right now. Then pacific halibut then the increased salmon posession limits.
But still haven't heard how the emergency stream closure discussion went...

Hey I saw Joshua R! Nice work man.
Watching & listening to their reactions to the proposal to allow transit through an MPA w/speargun was frustrating. It should obviously be allowed. But they tried to think of a few meager reasons why it shouldn't... That Garrison gal really pisses me off sometimes!

Awesome!

Joshua R. has been working really hard with the Waterman's Alliance on that and other issues. Glad we have a standup guy like Josh in our corner.  :smt001

This one.....pure evil.

http://www.nrdc.org/about/staff/karen-garrison

Can't argue with that sentiment, but sometimes the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Well having seen her in action I don't think friend is the right word by any stretch of the imagination but when fighting against water districts, farming interests, developement proponents, etc. we sometimes find ourselves on the same side.
