Getting back to the post, I too while watching the DFGC meeting was able to get that the AR will be closed from Nimbus to the power lines at Howell st. I understand to all fishing H&L through April 1st, that in no way would the special closure affect the spearfishing opportunity on the AR for SB and the other allowed take of fish. If I am wrong correct me.

:smt013 :smt013  If you want to swim up the American from West Sacramento to spear some fish, go for it, but why are you making a deal out of it?  It's been well reviewed that your spear is illegal on the shore anywhere along the American River and a little common sense should tell you that getting all the way to Ancil Hoffman in a boat without walking on shore is a tall order.

I would like to know the answer to this. Other than to stir shit why bother to make this post? This is a sensitive issue & you, RAD, should certainly know this about NCKA by now but...... you keep posting about this issue anyways. I don't understand. Allen?

Hey Allen...............hay if this thread is upsetting folks by all means delete it.
I just posted notice for the spearfishing community that the special rivers closure due to the drought conditions would not effect the spearfishing opportunity on the AR.
Nothing more nothing less.

That is a good point...does the emergency closure include spearfishing? Because normally you can only harvest fish (by any means) when the river is open.
Or are you just saying that the closed sections don't include the portion of the AR that allows spearfishing?

So.... as a result of the river closures, the sections that were illegal to spearfish are still illegal to spear fish.....

Is this divide and conquer? Has someone/something made an evil scapegoat out of the
striped bass?

Maybe I'm wrong, but this whole thing without the confusion seems to be about a major water transfer south and deep-pocketed lobbying effort. Yep, it's not a lack of water that's destroying our salmon, it's those damned, evil striped bass....

Then why do we keep visualizing massive cotton fields in the most arid/desert-like sections of the
San Joaquin Valley?

Hey I saw Joshua R! Nice work man.
Watching & listening to their reactions to the proposal to allow transit through an MPA w/speargun was frustrating. It should obviously be allowed. But they tried to think of a few meager reasons why it shouldn't... That Garrison gal really pisses me off sometimes!

Thanks SC and Jim.
