Fished the American this morning for shad. Best fish of the morning was 18 3/4 inches.

Nice! I'm going to go throw the spey rod with some guys from GGACC for them Thurs afternoon on the AR.

Kind of slow year this year, my honey hole on the sac is not holding fish because of the flow is so low. Gonna have to search around on the Sac and find some big hens on the yak I guess!

18-/12" American River shad caught on a 7 weight rod with an intermediate running line and Type 3 shooting head.  Fly of choice was a Bloody Maria.

Rod - Cabela's Fish Eagle 8wt.; Reel - Cabela's cheapie; line t-14 head; Fly - selfie Clousers, the first fly caught 15 blacks, second fly 5 of the same.
I might up the ante before I do any serious salt fly fishing, as the medium sized rockfish just about tore up the 8wt
also: some of the flies tied for GS8

Sweet!  I've using a cheapie 10wt., never know what you might tie into out there.

Tony, that's awesome!!!. I can't wait to get into rock fish on the fly again. I caught a some blues last year at Albion and it was sweet.

Thanks, but there are bigger ones in Cameron Park.  I believe my PB gill out there is 14 inch.  If I ever get my personal computer working I'll post a pic.

It took me a few tries, but I finally got a legal spotted bass in the north delta this morning in sutter slough. 12.5 inches.
