OK Big Game- Heavy and a slow paddle

OK Ultra 4.3- Original seat sucked, The two flush mounted rod holder  up front is useless IMO.

Original Tarpon 16 owner. Hated the hatch in the back. Had they kept EVERYTHING the same except change the back hatch to a tank well, they would have KILLED the market at that time. They really missed the opportunity on that one.
Original Prowler 15 owner. My favorite kayak to date. The only upgrade I liked was when they put a drain channel in the foot wells. But then again it got rid of the simple 'live well' at the same time so maybe I didn't like that change.
Currently a Hobie Revo and Hobie Adventure owner. The Twist and Stow hatches are a nice concept, but overall they suck big time. The plastic of the hull will expand and contract with conditions thus making the hole the hatch fits into not a perfect oval. Since the hatch itself doesn't change the same exact way the hull does it doesn't quite fit right making it sometimes near impossible to open or close without a GREAT amount of effort.
What I don't like about the Adv is the gap between the end of the cockpit and the front hatch. With the mirage drive it makes it difficult to access w/o removing the drive.
On BOTH Hobies I ABSOLUTELY HATE that the Mirage Drives don't easily fit into the front hatch. I will never understand why stowing the drives wasn't one of their first concerns. And while they are at it make it large enough to fit Turbo Fins too. And make it easy. I don't want to feel like I'm trying to fit together a puzzle when I'm out on the big blue.

I wish the Tridents had some better forward places for mounting flush mounts. They need a track system. The Mod Pod is great to have for rod holders but if you want to access the hatch you have to take it all down. Great idea here Chief!

I also wish the Tridents had rigid carrying handles.

I do believe the mirage drive of Hobie could and should have been improved for durability. The hollow drive shaft with the pin adjustment leading to breakage has been mentioned but the attachment of cable to chain by crimping  is also a weak point. Plastic pulleys should be metal and I think on the first series of drives they were. Hobie has the money and engineering to make sure the drive is so durable one doesn't have to carry replacement cable parts on a fishing trip nor have to order after market solid shafts from them because the stock ones broke.

I hate that my Scrambler has two rod holders too far forward.
I hate that it's not a Trident I guess.

The ONLY issue I have with my MK X-Factor is how close to the seat the center hatch is. I wish it were 1- 2 inches forward.

I'm trying to think of something that I don't like about my P15s...but I can't really think of anything other than the knuckle-basher side handles....which I hate.

Yes!  I hate that.  You have to think otw to not knock your knuckles.  Mine doesn't drain from the floorboard well, so can't bail to wash out.

They just updated the side grabs to moulded handles. The T-handles are next.

I have a 2013 Tarpon 120. I really wish I had some way to store my rods out of harms way. If I ever do much ocean fishing I worry I will crash and burn on the beach and destroy my rods. Also when Bass fishing up tight into the trees I hate getting my rods tangled in the branches.

OK Big Game:  Although I never installed one, the square center hull hatch is way too close to the seat. How are you to open that while in the seat escapes me.......unless you're some ball-less contortionist. smt013  Might just put a round hatch there for added access.

Big game.  Fat and slooooow.  No center hatch on my 07.  Difficult to paddle in the wind

Ok Ultra 4.7.  Heavy.  No real rod pod like the tridents.  Forward flush mounts can't be used as they are in the way of paddling. No great way of getting the FF battery wire into the center console.  They did a great job with transducer location but they could have easily given us a way to run that battery wire.

I cut out the center tray in my BG and the rods fit nicely in there. Now just need to make a side hinged fiberglass pod hatch. I am a big dude so the wide and slow barge suits me just dandy. I have yet to not keep up with other paddlers but I don't doubt there are faster yaks out there. I guess those with big upper body strength can handle the workout.

For almost three years I loved everything about my Revo......until I tried my friend's Adventure. The Revo felt quite a bit slower & harder to pedal by comparison.
Then after I got my Adventure I did miss the ease of sliding the shorter Revo into the pickup truck bed instead of having to rack the Adventure cause it was too long to put in the 6.5' bed.
Then I had to rent a Revo for a long 15+ mile day OTW, cause I was renting a truck with no racks to take my Adventure with, & I realized the easy speed of the Adventure outweighed the extra work of loading. My logic is I spend 10 extra minutes when I load/unload & for that I get all day OTW with a faster kayak. Now if they could engineer a Vantage style seat for it......

2011 Hobie Adventure - recessed side handles look great but they allow water from larger side waves to enter directly into the seat well. I don't mind getting a wet seat in storm-tossed or rough water. That's to be expected in a low center of gravity/thin type hull. It's a different story with a light chop on the water.

Hobie may have a fix for this issue, I don't know.

I have the inflatable seat cushion positioned underneath the stock seat. Certainly helps, but two or three more waves and the water gets deep enough to get you wet. Might have to carry a sponge and give that a try.

Hate the lack of deck space on my Mantaray 12. Also the awkward sized and shallow cup holder sucks.
