Haha!  I have, however, had close encounters of the Feline Kind on that dark trail!

Funny Forrest!!

ps. I do have a UFO story.  But it was in Tenessee 1973, in a big rig. I was hitchhiking across country. Great ride, we were eating white crosses, drinking jug wine and smoking Mexican dirt weed I had picked up in Phoenix.

What's that line from the 1997 movie, Contact? I just remember the character, Jodi Foster, asking her dad (?) about the possibility of other life out there as they gazed into the night sky. The paraphrased response was something like, 'If there isn't, there's a lot of wasted space out there.'
I think the Universe is still way beyond our human understanding. Hell, Basic Trigonometry, Function formulas, and thinking like a hungry fish are stretching the limits for me.

I am not a total skeptic...

I will say this though:  getting a picture or video of something that basically puts you in instant shock isn’t at all easy.  When I reeled that GWS in I didn’t think of my camera at all - even though 1) I constantly have cameras active on the water, and 2) I am probably the biggest giver of shit to people who saw a shark and didn’t get it on video or a still shot.

When something other worldly or legitimately threatening shows up you go into ready mode - ready to survive.

Much respect to those who’ve encountered the supernatural or the obviously deadly.

Life is probably common in the universe. It’s extremely unlikely any of it has visited earth. If it had, it probably would have ended just as poorly for us as in our earth experiences when a technologically advanced people encounter a more primative people.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Given the immensity of the known universe it is quite probable that life arose on planets other than earth and it is also probable, as Crash said, if we encounter an alien species with intelligence we would be exploited or worse. We can only see through the lens of our own human history. Conquest and subjugation of less advanced peoples by more advanced people is a universal rule in human history. Would that be different among other forms of life in the universe?

I’m pretty sure they we homosapiens ARE from another planet...possibly exiled after ruining some other lifeform’s planet.

Maybe they’re watching us from afar?

UFO's?  How about bigfoot!!  I'm sure someone on this forum has seen bigfoot.  All the travels through woods and lakes and along the coast....

Can't say I believe in either, especially since in this day and age why does every story end with...and before I could take a picture, it left......?

Ive always told people we will see other planets in our lifetime, the first one was a few years ago, it wasnt even a picture, it was a view of a distant sun that had a planet revolve in front of it and the only way they knew it was there was to mesure the light difference while it passed. Now we are even seeing livable planets, soon we will have pictures of planets with cities and roads and telescopes looking at us and hopefully not searching for water... and I believe we will travel to other planets when we die, no god for me please.
wouldn't it be cool if this was the real deal and we happen to live it?!  Who do we worship to get a ride on the Mothership?
I hear a Parliament song comin' on....
