So, today is the day! Today is the day! TODAY IS THE DAY!!!
Today is the day I have decided to quit smoking. Today is going to really suck but a mans got to do what a mans got to do.
Wish me luck guys I'm going to need it.
the first week is the hardest. 3 months ago i stopped chewing tobacco after using it since i was 19 (im 30 now) and you just gotta do it cold turkey. just write it into your mind that it is not something that you do anymore. I just had to tell myself, that i dont do it anymore. the first 3 days were the worst. I was a dick to everyone around me, irritable, short fused, cranky... every negative adjective that you can be i was. but after a week, it was smooth sailing. I have found that sunflower seeds keep my mouth busy during the times that i would have normally been chewing. 3 months later i dont even have an urge anymore, i dont yearn for it. so just write it into who you are that it just isnt something that you do and in no time that will just be the way it is and you wont have to "tell yourself" that anymore ya know. good luck and stay strong

(sorry if i am jumping on this thread a little late lol but good support is nice during a tough challenge like this.)

too funny I was thinking of you and your success this morning....once again -to repeat---..you will forget 99.999% of the time that you ever even smoked..it really gets that simple...
good for you
what was such a big deal(when trying to think about quitting) on my drive to work or the morning coffee is now completely off my radar...it's  :smt001 gone

I still have some mild cravings at times but nothing really triggers them I just ignore the thought and go back to doing whatever it is that I am doing

Incredible, keep it up! I've always been lucky, never had a taste for it but I have a hard enough time fighting sugar cravings, so can't even imagine the pull of nicotine. Hang in there.

now comes the tricky phys ops that your brain can pull.  "see how easy it was?  You can quit so easy.  So just one puff won't hurt.  Or maybe I can just smoke while playing poker.  Or fishing.  Or eating.  Or daily."

that thinking tripped me up several times.  So watch for it if it comes  :smt004

Stick with it, even though it feels like you are past the hardest part, you aren't yet. The "hard" part is  the mental game and rationalization stuff. I quit 10 years ago after trying maybe 8 times. I have a very addictive personality, but I can honestly say it is possible to quit and not look back. Took about 2 years for me to really claim I beat the mental game. I still LOVE the smell of other people smoking, still crave it after sex, or with coffee.

And today makes 2 weeks!
I'm thinking after a month I might treat myself to either a bike fuel band or a gopro hero 3 white with the money I have saved from not smoking
