I use my gaff to whack my fish. Serves dual purpose.

I swing a EWG fish beater too! Although, I've only had to whack halibut with it. Everything else gets bled (and dead fish don't bleed).

5/8 diameter aluminum hex stock, 12" long. One hit leaves on headache

My wife dug up a souvenir baseball bat so I guess I'll use that. It's free.

15" long small dia pvc pipe.
Duct tape one end closed.
Stand on end.
Add a little marine goop.
Let dry.
Fill 1/4 up with double O buck.
Add more marine goop.
Let dry.
Drill hole, add rope and clip.

Cheap, last forever and one whack is all you need.

I have been carrying a T-ball bat for a long time. a little large. But found a wood knocker at Sports Chalet.

I've never be a creative like you guys, so I just buy one...

I do use KZ's gaff in the ocean also but you cannot have any gaff when you're fishing freshwater...
still nice to have both when you wanna hit a big ling while gaffing.

Yep, my gaff only goes in salt. I haven't caught anything from freshwater that's worth bonking.
