Old post hole digger handle, when it broke on the post holer, I cut it down to fit my fishing gear pack, drilled a hole for a lanyard.

I use a 18" piece of 1-1/4 PVC with a cap at both ends one side drilled out for a lanyard at one end. It's light it floats and it doesn't rust. I only use it if the big ones can't control themselves in the boat. I don't like them teeth all over the place. Mostly lings. Oh and it fits in my rod holders.

I will snap some pics this weekend. Nothing crazy on this batch. I just had some scrap material figured I'd make a few vs adding to the firewood pile.

Pat,  you mean to tell me you haven't turned any SST or Alum knockers with a knurled handle & anodized finish yet?  Seems like an ideal "lights out" project to keep the lathes running ;)

15" of 1" white pvc, it's the stuff that has a bit of flex to it. Duct tape one end add a bit of Goop, let dry. Fill 1/5 up with double O buck and add more Goop.Let dry, drill a hole, add a rope with a clip. Done, indestructible and only take one good smack for the cibby effect.

I don't use one.  On the rare occasion that I catch a lot of fish, I let them hang in the water.  and every once in a while, they will give a good tug and splash that scares the crap out of me.  I rather enjoy that.  If there is a sea lion in the area, I pull the live fish in and throw them over my box in the back.  If I have a couple of lings, they get all excited and tail whip me in the  back or shoulder.  Now that's a wakeup.
