You can get into Doran Beach, but the day use opens up at sunrise. Around 7-7:30am. I am sure there will be a line of vehicles at the gate.

Is there an express lane at the gate for registered campers to enter? Would like to bypass the line Sunday morning.

Thanks,
Al

No Al, there isn't.  Unless you are already registered AND signed in, you need to go through the line.  However, I think in the early morning, it's the IRON ranger pay box.  I don't think there's a ranger there all night long and I know they leave the gate open since campers need to come and go at any hour.

If you already have your parking pass there is a lane to go through. I am guessing there won't be anybody working the booth that early in the morning. For those who arrive early, there is an Iron ranger to pay the days use fee of $7, make sure you pay this because they will come around to check.

They are predicting waves rising to 40' at Mavericks as the long period waves go up Mavericks Shoal by Pacifica.  Be careful in shallow exposed areas like around the head in close.

What time is check out from campsite? Reason I ask is we will be staying only Saturday night. Will we have to break camp and move cars before we start grabbing Sunday morning?

Please follow all camping rules listed here: http://parks.sonomacounty.ca.gov/_templates_parks/Camping.aspx?id=700

When I first posted this thread I reccomended that people book Sunday so that they don't have to worry about moving. There is nothing that can be done about this, I wish there was. I removed the camping link the other day becasue online reservations for the weekend had closed.

Dear NCKA Bruddahs,

I was planning on coming to Crabfest, had reserved a camping site near Doran for Saturday. My wife is in the hospital and may be there for a few days. 50/50 that I will make it.

I just talked to someone at Bodega Bay today and he said the wind has really kicked in this afternoon. Also, with the huge swells coming on from Alaska, is Doran Beach protected or will it be a rocky yak day on Sunday?

The ocean here has been pretty calm all month, seems like this weekend may not be too calm.

I saw the photos of the waves at Jaws and Waimea Bay in Hawaii, just awesome how things can change in a flash. Mavericks does not look too bad either, or actually looks really BAD!!

Take Care,

Michael (Da Bruddah)
