Awarding RTM Abaco 4.20 and K Largo Fishing Kayaks Plus A Lot More!
Gerard's Paella Dinner Friday, Trencherman's BBQ Saturday and Event Raffle included with registration

Greetings All,
Registration for The Fall Classic Kayak Fishing Tournament at Ocean
Cove, to be held on Saturday October 12th, is open.
Needless to say, we are REALLY excited!!!  Sponsored by RTM Kayaks, Guayaki Herba Mate, Ranger Nets, Gerardspaella.com, Terrafin Imaging, Jack's Plastic Welding, Channel Islands Sportfishing-Oxnard, Pfat Headz Jigs plus many more...it's going to be a bash with lots of fishing, food, FUN and great prizes with the kayak fishing community!  Tournament Headquarters opens Friday at noon and stays pitched through 11am Sunday.

http://www.eventzilla.net/web/event?eventid=2138983903
The registration process has been streamlined this year, here's a link
to the event info, registration and the event waiver in one easy form.

There is a spot on the registration form to have your name on the roster
and we will maintain that on this thread.
Early registrations make the whole event a lot easier to plan and are
appreciated.  If you'd like a reserved campsite in/or adjacent to
Tournament Headquarters, please register asap since there are a limited # of
reserved campsites available.  No worries on the rest of the campground,
it won't sell out and reservations aren't needed.

Only 3 fish are allowed at weigh-in and the tournament rules are
designed to reduce the take for this event.  Anglers are welcome to
compete (fish) within the entire Fort Ross region up to and including
Sea Ranch.  Make sure to identify your MPAs and reserves. The 2013 Fall
Classic makes a donation from proceeds to a recreational fishing lobby
(TBD) and a few friends in need.

We hope you can make it, bring your family and friends, and we look forward
to seeing everyone at Ocean Cove, please feel free to contact us anytime in the meantime.

Thanks All,
The Fall Classic prizes are starting to flow in and I will post when we have enough registrations to add a 3rd RTM Fishing Kayak to the top awards.  At least 10 anglers will leave with a new JPW Dry Bag or Bucket, Phatheadz Jigs is onboard and I'll list rods, reels, paddles, tackle plus a lot more gear as they make it in.  Channel Islands Sportfishing sent hoodies and passes on the 3/4 day Gentleman out of Oxnard and Terrafin Imaging sent service subscriptions.  Rich from Guayaki Herba Mate promised a mountain of product and his attendance.  The raffle/awards and Trencherman's BBQ will be near seamless this year, all commencing after the scales close.

The Raffle will be selected during tournament fishing and announced/distributed at the awards concurrent to that and the BBQ, no waiting to pick all those raffle tickets this year.  Everyone gets a raffle ticket with their registration.  Don't forget to put a few bucks aside for a benefit raffle for Guitarzan's sculptures.  We could see another benefit raffle or silent auction depending on donations.

The BBQ staff is smoking a test brisket next weekend, I"ll bring it to the beach if I fish.

I'll be warming up at the Slam Down in Cambria with the Ship of Fools, hope to see many of you there.

Dennis thanks for putting on the Fall Classic again this year.  Chef Gerard's paella is off the hook and then the trenchermen feast is really yummy.  Is the winner determined by the heaviest fish and second place by the total weight of the 3 fish?  I was a little confused about that last year.

Thanks Jacks and yes, the heaviest fish takes the Abaco 4.20.   2nd through 4th place prizes are based on the total weight of 3 different fish.

Talking it around, it's not beyond the realm of possibility to have salmon in the mix and the first half of October is historically salmon season.  The closer we get to 30 days with fish in the reports, we could see salmon coming into Ocean Cove.  C'mon Mother Nature!

The Recreational Ocean Salmon Season for October 2013 (as it applies to the The Fall Classic on October 12) is:
Point Arena to Pigeon Point (San Francisco)
April 6 - November 10, 2013
Seven days per week
2 salmon per day of any species except coho
Minimum size limit: 20 inches total length

Commercial Season:
The commercial season in the Fort Ross/Sonoma Coast area closes 12 days before the Fall Classic.  Commercials will still be fishing salmon south from Point Reyes for 11 days October 1-15.

I caught a few of those chromers this year.  Its times to retie the leaders and shine the dodgers and tie on some fresh sharp hooks. :smt002
