Thanks All.  The 3 fish weighed in must be a combination of 3 different species.   Anglers can weigh-in 1-3 fish but it would be a mighty feat to place with less than 3 fish.  Finfish only.

The tournament scale is badass and weighs up to 60# to the 1/100th BUT it's super sensitive to wind.  Last year, we did the weigh-in in the back of Michelle's truck at the cleaning station.  I may do the same this year but we'll put up a pop-up awning with a banner and table and make a good spot for photos.

The Trencherman's BBQ is looking to live up to its name.  Michelle's smoking a "test" brisket for Sunday football and laid out a feast of a menu for the tournament.  I'd like to take this opportunity to solicit some abs and fish filets for Friday's paella and let everyone know your potluck contributions are welcome.

Paid and ready! With the two yaks, all the awesome prizes and the ridiculously good eats, I expect you'll have a great turnout.
I've been looking forward to this event since the last one! Thanks, Dennis!

The 2013 Fall Classic is just a month away and we're really excited!  We have nearly 2 dozen anglers signed up so far.  Last year, we had about 35 registered a week before the event and ended up with 71.   Please submit your registrations asap, it makes it a lot easier to deal with feeding everyone and getting extra shirts and hoodies without a last week panic.  We hope to see is a strong NCKA showing at Ocean Cove!

Here's who we have so far on this thread and from the registration opt-in:
Bullshark
M Elliot
Frank (Ghost)
SuperVato
Jacks
Dr Habanero
Rider
Raydon
Cawingshooter
added 9-25
Zisco
JJQ

Thanks Guys.

We're in full tournament mode here with just under 2 weeks to go.  I saw Gerard cooking at the Occidental Farmers Market Friday and he said he's going to hit it out of the park with this year's paella at Ocean Cove.  The long range weather forecast is generally sunny for this year's Fall Classic and it's been pretty fishy out there.  At this point, you have about a 1 in 12 chance of taking home a new RTM Kayak. We're giving away at least 2 kayaks and one of the goals of the Fall Classic is having the best chance of winning with more big prize winners.  But there's only one tournament champion per event..like 2012's The Dude.  Will NCKA produce the next tx champ on the heels of Ricci's (friggin spectacular underdog) win in SLO? Good luck you guys.

Fall Classic Tournament Shirts
We are ordering extras and should have shirts for all (many late registrations didn't get a tournament shirt last year).  Registering by next Monday, Oct. 8th, will guarantee you get the Tournament Shirt and the right size.

And the Tournament Champion is in!!!

Day of event registration is okay, we get some local turnout Friday and Saturday morning.  I'll do my best to anticipate the extra for shirts, feeding everyone will not be an issue.  I hope you guys can make it.

I tried to have a hundred donuts at the OC launch for Saturday morning but the local shops (even Safeway) can't get them out early enough.  If anyone is coming out early Saturday and passes a 4 or 5am donut shop...please let me know.  There will be a hot pot of Guayaki herba mate at Tournament Headquarters for folks launching at Ocean Cove..

Michelle noted that so many anglers came in hungry last year and said there will be a pot of beans (and cornbread) on the fire when the first angler comes in.  The BBQ starts a few minutes after the weigh-in deadline at 2:30 pm.  Gerard's paella dinner Friday and the BBQ Saturday are included in the registration fee.  Your kids/teens eat free.

Witz Sport Cases (Surf Safe, Lens Locker, hard waterproof smartphone cases) hooked up the Fall Classic with cases for the raffle.  They are looking to make more stuff for kayak fishers and we really appreciate their support.

Thanks for the registrations, it looks like NCKA will have a much higher presence at this years Fall Classic and we're looking forward to a fun weekend..
