So not to flog the obvious but was wondering if there were any similarities between these "visits"? Time of day/weather/water depth? Was fishing same spot at LM yesterday 3 hours prior to the attack. Will go back out but any preventative info is always helpful. Thanks!

None, each and everyone has different month, dept and color of kayak.

No, but probably more will go buy an AI.  Have not heard one get attack yet even in Australia.  If they do it will probably bite on the amas first.

This guy is spot on^^^.

OK sorry, and apologies to my SMC brothers for the prediction. I am not the only one who feels that way though. Have you seen any OG fishing there in the last 2 years?  :smt011 Adam doesn't count.  :smt005 I really brought this up because I don't want bad things to happen to my friends. Be safe and I will say a prayer for you as I always do every Sunday.

As far as what to do, the only kayaker that I know of who didn't end up in the water was the Santa Barbara kayaker in the wooden SIK. The majority have been missle attacks and the kayaker was ejected into the water. Based on what other survivors did:
#1 Call for help
#2 Flip your kayak right side up and quickly self rescue
#3 Paddle in quickly because in 5/6 attacks the hull was breached.

As far as shark shields, I own one and use it in Santa Cruz and Big Sur. I don't think it will stop the missle attack but it might prevent the shark from coming back for seconds like Adam's shark did.

HMB has not had a shark attack that I am aware of. For whatever reason there aren't many seals there which is probably why.

I'm surprised Moss Landing doesn't have more "incidents".  It has everything; tons of seals (literally), steep breaks, murky water... I guess its because it doesn't get a lot of kayak traffic.  I get kinda  creeped out there though.
