HOLY SHIT!
I'm glad Dustin did not share this attack with me while OTW yesterday.  :smt008

For those who want to read more about NCKA Encounters with GWS. There is a very-well-put-together thread that Mooch did with links to the actual day.

Its not a "where are they not" thing, its a "where are there less" thing.  ... Fishing from Capitola to the mouth of the Russian River is dangerous.  Do what you want to do, but lets not water down the fact that you might get killed by a shark there more so than in other places.

+1. I'd rather be a pedestrian in Alameda (failing to yield to pedestrians is enforced) than E. Palo Alto (you're playing a real life "frogger" game to get across the street).

There are locations along the coast with a heavier concentration of gws. You can get attacked anywhere but I'd rather deal with the normal chances of an encounter instead of rolling the dice by going to a place with increased odds. With that being said, Moss Landing and Monterey are underrated and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bigger population roaming that area that are not seen.

Ya, bro. I meant to tell you after we got off the water, but after our little fog incident it totally slipped my mind.

PS - Fog scares me more than sharks.

PS - Fog scares me more than sharks.

Only seen sharks twice, but I've been spooked by fog too many times to count.

Totally fake!  At the end one guy asks if they should call 911.  Victim says "No".  Other guy says good because the winds just turned off shore.

Just an attempt at crowd control.  Like the signs a couple weeks ago in SC.

Maybe we should all get one of these inflatable killer whales as shark shields.

Ironically... I learned about this Linda Mar attack via text from Fuzz just an hour or two after the bite.   His friend happened to be on the beach and took this cell phone pic of the yak.

I still think its not a bad idea to tow around a silhouette of a seal/sealion. If there's a hungry shark closeby, I'd rather see it attack the fake seal behind me. I'd rather be the "dodger" and not the hoochie, if you know what I mean.

I know this topic is serious as a heart attack.  But Str8's comment made me LMAO.  quote of the year right thar

I read this thread again to remind me why I am no longer a hardcore SMC "beaner."  Plus, this quote and idea just gets me ROFL every time.
