Feelings about worms

How do you guys feel about fish with worms? I was just cleaning a cab and I'm pulling out more than a couple parasitic works from the fish's flesh. How do you guys generally deal with this? Try to clean them out? Eat around them? Toss the whole fish as tainted? I got to say it's not particularly appetizing to see these things all over the fish's flesh. It also kind of turns my stomach to think about eating worm eggs. Still I hate to waste a good fish

Well im with you as soon as I see worms if my friends ar'nt around its going in the garbage.but if you deep fry the thing none of the parasites would survive.but its still in the back of your head

From what ive heard if u soak the fillets in ice water the worms will come out over night. Freezing an cooking should kill every thing an if not from what ive been told ur body will kill them but hey its just what ive been told. Ive only found bugs in the meat of boccacios so far been lucky or blind lol

If your friends are around you just feed it to them lol.

Give it away to a nieghbor if u have the image in the back of ur head lol what they dont know wont hurt em

I just looked it up, now I definitely can't eat that fish.

I'm starting a new topic. Free fish fillets

"Monster in Me" did a great show on this.  Freezing guarantees no problem.  There is one parasite that lives in marine mammals that cycles into the fish.  It is really nasty.  No more grilling fresh salmon right from the old Sac. for me with all the fur bags swimming around there.  I will freeze first.  Probably a good idea with most fish.  Ate loads of salmon sashimi right out of the river last season and still lived, but maybe not anymore.

I find one or two in most rockfish, cabs and lings.  The DFW recommends removing them and cooking the fish.  I hold the filets up to light and they are easy to spot.  Check out the link below.

Most bottom fish are gonna have em, halibut too.  If you really need to clean em all out slice the fillets up thin and hold em to the light and you can see em then pull em out.

Eat that puppy!! Worms aint no thing..pull out visible ones, cook well, no problem.

Also...on cabs...a lot of what look like worms are just the stringy muscular tissue around the collar area.

I've found the most worms in grassys and Lings but have eaten every single fish and am all good. 

If concerned, freeze and then cook, but honestly as long as you cook well you really shouldn't have anything to worry about.
