my plan B would be Half Moon Bay....if the beach launch does not look good at Linda Mar or anywhere else, HMB would be a great alternate = protected Harbor launch + short paddle to the fishing grounds + Ono Hawaiian Grill close by  :smt002

Santa cruz was whitecaps by 2pm today when I got a look.  Not huge swell, but blown out.

People usually fish for salmon first because salmon bite best in the grey of dawn.  When the sun comes out they go out farther and deeper.  Rockfish are always available.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Randy and I will of course be spending the weekend primarily in Carmel Bay.  If anyone else is coming this way, say hi..................... :smt006

After two weeks of non-stop landscaping/repairing/remodeling we are not ready to hit the water but will manage with enthusiasm if not with flair!

Hi! I Hope to catch up with you two at Stillwater over the weekend. Tim

Since my usual partner is off catching giant roosterfish in Baja, I'll have to hit our favorite lingcod/cabezon hotspot without him and his dorado catching son. When I show him my pics of rockfish, cabezon and lingcod limits he's going to be .....alright he probably won't be jealous, damn I wish I was in Baja.  Anyways if anyone wants to hit up the north side of Caspar cove on Saturday I'd welcome the company, I was thinking about fishing out front a little and if the wind or swell picks up, I'd come just inside the cove which is just as productive.

Just to introduce myself on the board, my name is Joe and I'm usually with scwafish.  He's usually post my pics for me but know he's got me hooked on the site.  Can't wait to meet you guys at Elk.

Anybody interested in Pacific Grove...Otter Cove-Coral Street, on Saturday AM? If not I'd like to try Stillwater.
I'm a newbie  with some experience with rockfish.

Tim and Morgan...

Welcome to the board!   :smt006

We'll be at Stillwater on Sat and probably try Pacific Grove on Sunday or Monday.  Remember the 17 Mile Drive gate opens at 6:00, so don't show up *too* early!

I have Monday 7-3 available to fish- Do you guys think HMB is doable with the current forcast for Monday?  I'm a bit of a rookie; already crashed once with Fuzzy Tom  last year and I don't want a repeat!

Pat/Randy,

I'll be at the launch spot at Carmel around 0600 to 0700.  Look forward to seeing you both out there.

I know for sure I will be there, and John and Anna may be there also.  I met them through Ed and they are just getting started in yak fishing.

Sad day for me as Ed left town for good yesterday...... :smt011

I'm going to miss Ed.  Good company on the water and willing to try new things.  I guess he never got his own local salmon.  I'm sure he's paid his dues, but he goes from military duty in Monterey to duty in Hawaii!  I expect good fish stories from him from there.
