1)  Black Butte Lake, Buckhorn Rec. Area: March 23, 2013  (Map: http://goo.gl/maps/JDO38] )
Day use  =$4.00
Camping = $18.00/night, no electrical, but drinking water is available.

The rules for the event are:  Best five (5) fish per person(chosen by the angler) as scored based on the scoring system below.  The total points of your best 5 fish as measured at weigh-in or presented on a camera will be your score.  Fishing starts at 6:00 am,and you must have a wristband before competing. I will hand out wristbands at the launch beginning at 5:00 am. The angler must be on shore no later than 1:00pm and immediately head to the check-in table. All Ca. DFG rules must be followed or immediate disqualification will happen. You will be required to wear a PFD or life jacket while competing.
There is also a competition for the most trash picked up by weight during the tournament, the prize for this will be announced on tournament day.
Since this is a "Series" event hosted by Freshwater Kayak Anglers Tournament Series 2013 (FreshKATS), points from this event will be added to points for the angler earned at the other five events to determine the top series winners.  Grand Prize for the series will be announced at a later date.

Scoring
Black bass: 8 pts/in   Bluegill/Crappie: 12 pts/in      Catfish: 6 pts/in      Carp: 5 pts / in

Looks cool Jim, what's the camping situation like? Is there RV spots? I'll stay tuned for details

Camping is really nice, its one of the nicest campgrounds I have seen in a LOOOOONG time!  no Electricity, but there are showers at the restrooms and potable water as well.

I like fishing this lake.  Jigs with dark craw imitation lures works for me for bass.  Crappie fishing is good here.  Most average 12inches.  Just gotta know where to fish.  Powell has steped up as a sponsor for this event.  A Jig rod will be given to first place at this event.

Looking forward to this one! I will be driving up Friday night after work, so I won't be able to get a camping spot. I will stay with family near-by instead.

I might also bring along my son and another friend.

Any potlucks or lunch afterwards?

Oh no!  We'll have to wait and see Ron.

I'm sure some of you haven't fished this lake but I've done okay here and there.  So I'll tip off my advice as for shore fishing goes.  Grizzly Flats area fist pick, then Burris Creek.

Tiny, about 20 min west of Orland.

I am so excited about this, this lake should be a great time.  I think that with the small size, standing timber, steep banks, rocky structure and warm stained water, there will be a LOT of fish caught :)
At least I hope so!

I like the Powell Rods too. Press Powell made me a custom fly rod, probably his last rod right before he passed away. It is my favorite Fishing rod I own.
