Where can we park our car while we are out fishing?  I plan to fish La Jolla before the trip.  Anyone else?

I am wondering the same thing about where to leave our cars while on the Islander.

I plan on fishing LJ the day before, and possibly the morning of the trip.

In Loving Memory of Mooch, Eelmaster, Shicken, and Cabeza De Martillo

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

During the last trip we parked in the harbor parking lot.  You have to pay, but I don't think it costed too much.

The Dolphin Motel is a great place to stay. As bare bones as a motel can get, but definitely clean with a very friendly and helpful staff. The parking lot has motion sensor lights and  camera feeds to the front desk a few feet away

I'm heading down Thursday. Staying in Santa Barbara Thursday evening. If anyone else is splitting the drive down and knows the  SB area I would be interested in fishing Thursday morning. will stay down there until the next Wednesdays or Thursday. Probably won't have time to fish afterwards due to family obligations, but you never know.

Having done 2 Islander trips before, and some other SD long range trips,

you basically have 3 options for parking, if you get there at the right time you can park in the lot infront of the shop/boats, for about 7 or 8 dollars a day, you can park across the street at the hotel, 10 dollars a day IIRC, and they will guarantee your car will not get broken into, or 3rd there are 2 lots  3 ish blocks away  one east and one West I believe for like 5 bucks a day but peeps on bloody deck complain about getting broke in in those lots.

That said The Islander Trips are a BLAST. I fished Calicos on the boilers out at San Clemente most of the time, (both trips I did minimal YT and WSB were caught, and mostly by the spearos),

Word of advice if you have not fished the boilers, get your currents figured out before your first cast. There is an inlet and an outlet to the boils AVOID the inlet. I think it was BIGBOY from kayaksport fishing, he was on the wrong side tieing on a lure , not paying attention, got sucked in, tossed up in the air, spit out and robbed of 4 avet/calstar combos.

That said for calicos, big slugs, (10 & 12 inchers) medium slugs(6-8), and a jig/swimbait had me covered. I'd throw the big slug across the top of it first, swing the medium slug through the inlet/current, and work the bottom of the boiler edges with the Jig/swimbait, and I caught dozens of calicos 3-10 lbs,
