They will both be back out there tomorrow. Actually I bet money they will pay those fines with money they are CURRENTLY making from selling abalone.

They don't care. Poachers are a different breed. Sad story. What a shame. I'm glad in my lifetime I've had the pleasure of tasting abalone. Hope the future NCKA dudes also have the pleasure.

wtf is up with these slap on the hand fines.i wouldve towed the vehicle.heres an idea 22 abs right, cuffem then grab 22 rocks the same size and make em walk home.im so tired of these slap on the hand fines for people that are poaching.i can understand if someone accidently grab an undersize that was a hair off of their three limit.ok then slap them on the wrist.but these fukkers are out to poach not your average rec fishing.
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

15K in fines is hardly anything to sneeze at.  But yes, disgusting criminal behavior.

That does suck, there used to be a paddle board guy at SWS that would suit up in a wetsuit, and I remember thinking, really? Then a warden one day let us know he was a repeat offender taking abalone. Others told us he would keep them on his paddle board, paddle in toward the launch and simply kick them off into the water if someone was around

Sorry, Mike. I guess Yahoo will do anything to attract more sign-ups.

Have any of you guys reported offenders or would you?

I have seen several blatant offenses and havn't reported yet but I think I will in the future.  When I approached the people and tried to let them know of the laws they were breaking they gave me dirty looks and didn't want to hear it.

I saw three guys in a skiff at SWS and they had multiple rockfish under 8" with them.

One guy was fishing in the middle of an MPA.

Another guy was fishing on the rocks in PG with 6 rods!

I have never been one to call the authorities to have someone busted but that's gonna change.

I can't find any rules on size for rockfish except Lings, Cabs, and Greenling. Multiple rods are good as far as I know unless you have already caught rockfish. MPA fishing, thats another problem.

Just looked up the regs.  I was always under the impression that the rockfish had to be 12" but didn't see it.  Is there really no size limit for all the rockfish species not listed?

As far as the rods.  Your only gonna catch rockfish off the rocks in PG except for the occasional perch.
