Marina Man Convicted of Poaching Endangered Black Abalone

Just looked up the regs.  I was always under the impression that the rockfish had to be 12" but didn't see it.  Is there really no size limit for all the rockfish species not listed?

 

Nope. No size limit on rockies, except for those few listed.

I was really suprised there was no size limit.  That explains the dirty looks I got when I was talking shit on the little rockies this guy kept.  I still think it's lame to keep any fish under 12" so I won't.

I read the article. Agree with these guys being guilty. but to blame over fishing for the endangerment of these ABS. With out a mention of the Otters. I watched in the 60's and early 70's when there were plenty of ABS. Then we wiped out the sharks that kept the otters in check and Abs disappeared. I'm sure fishing may of had a little to do with it. But not the extent that F&G blames us. 

What a bullshit sentence. He will be right back out there killing more of them or anything else he can get his hands on. Real jail time is the only thing that will stop these scumbags.
