Any recomendations for one of those high powered 1 pump pellet guns from Big 5?

Looking to upgrade my old 10 pump clunker.

Just using it for shootin targets while camping, nothing too expensive...

Gamo has a lot of models that are inexpensive for their quality. In .177 cal theres multiple models that can be had for less than $200. I have a Varmit hunter that does 1000fps with lead and 1200 with PBA. Comes with a 4x32 scope, laser and light mount for the two with multiple switch options and a night filter. Got it on sale for $165 if I remember correctly. Plenty of power, one pump, and not too hard to pump.

Much to the chagrin of my sister....I got my nephew a red ryder for xmas.  I can't speak much to its abilities or comparisons to other models but it sure did get some unapproving looks from my sis while teh kids were opening presents.  :smt003

Used to be dedicated airgun dude and by far RWS is head and shoulders above the rest. Their base models are fairly priced but like anything you get what you pay for. I loved my model 48 in .22cal with the side cock lever. Best airgun ever and took many a squirrel past 50yds.

Also inexpensive spring powered airguns and scopes are a bad combo. Some with shoot OK for a little while (100 rounds) after you zero but the recoil generated by the spring with cause the zero to float. The necessary spring piston airgun scopes and solid mounts are expensive.

My buddy got a new rws not sure of the model but the thing had so much spring recoil you couldn't keep it from bucking the scope off I'm sure there better in the long run and last a bit longer
The gamo models with the 3-9x40 scope has a solid one piece mount that has a lock pin.and if the spring. Starts to weaken you can upgrade to a gas piston for pretty cheap and get more reliability and still be under what a new rws sells for. Just my 2 cents

My 20 yr old Fienberbau(?) still shoots great, but my Red Ryder bb gun still gets a lot of use in campgrounds. Amazingly accurate for its just being a bb plinker. Cheap to shoot too, as well as not hurting anything. Have yet to put my eye out with it.
