What's up everyone? I'm dying to take my first stab at yak fishing for salmon, and I've got the weekend of the 28th free.

Is anyone goin out to Monterey that weekend? I'd love to tag along. I'll be driving out from the East Bay Friday evening and hopefully camping out somewhere near the launch.

Can't wait!!!

Sweet. Lets keep an eye on the weather and make the call. I've never fished in Monterey, or fished for salmon from a yak, but I've logged enough ocean time that I feel comfortable about it. It'd just be nice to have someone else around to point me in the right direction.

Seems like the Bodega salmon have moved up the coast 3 miles out to sea. All the boats were between Jenner and the Fort strait off the Grade yesterday.  Hard to get close enough to paddle out in that area. If they keep moving up the coast they may get close to Red Barn or the Fort. Monterrey may be your best bet for now.

I was at Bodega this past  Saturday on my buddies boat, we went up past the whistle buoy to Jenner. Saw a few boats pretty far out from us, maybe 3 miles in. 3 drive bys and 1 nice 30# hawg but it was slow for the most part, and we were there from 730-230pm. There was definately a good size fleet out that day. Oh yea, we also saw a shark fin stick out of the water about 50 yards from us. Unless the salmon decide to make a uturn I would suggest Monterey as well.

Oh yea in addition, marked bait around Arch Rock. Green RSKs are what seemed to be workin  that day based on what I heard on radio and what worked for us. Speaking of RSK, I didn't know Pro-Troll was from Concord, CA, thought that was neat, seeing I'm still new to all this Salmon stuff still.
