I just found out about this through a e-mail from my Chief...

 I know this man very well,  Attention to detail is an understatement...   this makes no sense,,,

he has several Hobie kayaks, knows kayaks and how to use them, swift water trained and is in very good shape,,,  it makes no sense that he would be out without a PFD...,

Like I said, this guy follows details and attention to detail like no other....

I just arrived at GS6, got the internet going and surly wished i had not..

This is very upsetting, I guess it does not look good and only hope somehow the details come out....

  Wow.  Hopefully this will have a happy ending.  This just enforces the need to always wear your PFD regardless of how hot it may be on the water.

Kayak damaged? Boater hit? Hart attack? Hope he is found alive! Sucks that he is lost!

Wow,....just saw the story on KTVU news showing the search and rescue teams on the lake.  The story did not offer up any new news, much less good news I'm afraid.

I just spent a good amount of time filing my paddle plan with friends and family as well as double and triple checking my safety items before my trip this weekend.  Unfortunately goes to show you, bad things can happen to anyone at anytime. 

He is in my thoughts and prayers.  Please be safe out there people.

Turns out that the guy is my wife's business partner's relative.  That family has already been through some tough times.  Hope it somehow turns out okay.

I've been getting updates through our Fire Union and Chief...

They still have not found him...  The Sheriffs department is using everything they have and Sacramento Fire is doing all they can too as well as taking care of the family...

Just so sad and looking more and more like we may never know what actually happened here....

What is so strange to me about this is even if it was a heart attack, he is just not the kind of guy who would cut corners as to not wear a pfd... Like I said, his attention to detail and doing things the right way are second to none...

Just does not seem right....

Wishing the best to Bill's family and my Brothers and Sisters at Sacramento City Fire ...

They still have not found him with 5 or more boats a day out looking,,,

 Several agencies from all over are participating in a coordinated search...

I'm heading up this week to help....
