I'm taking my buddy Edsel to his first striper kayak fishing trip this Saturday. I plan to stay overnight  :camp but Edsel will be heading back for Father-baby duties.

Hopefully - there will be a grilled striper for dinner  :cook

Would like to fish the banks at night as well - with live bait and lures...I remember Rickey Noel mentioning something about the Striper boils at night! Maybe the big guys come out by then....:smt017

Company welcome!

Joel,

I will be there.  May not stay the night.  May come back Sunday or sleep in my truck.  Depends on the bite.

If we limit early, we should try Los Banos Creek for trout, bluegill(? do not know if they are there) and large mouth bass.  It is only about 10 miles a way.  What is nice is that the same ticket you used for San Luis Forebay is OK for Los Banos Creek.  We get to fish two lakes for the price of one.

Hey Joel,

Burger King, Big Mac's or Jack in Box will all have that Fish Fillet Sandwich and you don't have to clean it or deal with the bones.

here we go again:  :moon  :smt008 (ass-kissing at it's best)

Guys,

If you want to drift live minnows.  I would get them at Coyote Bait (San Jose)on the way over to the forebay.  At the fore bay they are $1 for one.  Coyote is 50 cent.

I may give it a try.   What kind of tackle should I bring?  Broken back rebels seem the most popular, maybe in black on white?

Please please think of me when your out there- I'll be stuck in a conference room, with a phone glued to my ear-- my 2yr old "baby" (read project) is finally going live.  Thank the stars.
Guess I'm not fishing for a few weeks....

Make sure you post lots of reports, so i can vicariously fish through your reports

Hi Josh,

Joseph got a big one on a broken back green and orange w/a big lip.  He loaned it to me.  I trolled it for a while did not get a hit on it.  Ran too deep fro my taste.

Rattle traps are suppose to work.  I have still have not gotten a hit on one.

I like the Smithwick.  Look at "fishing reports" to get more info.

How much does it cost to park/fish/camp?

I'm pretty sure I'm down.  I will drive down in the morning and probably stay overnight if I go.
