I had to bail on the camping   :smt011 - the wind was relentless. I took a long nap after fishing and at 7PM, the wind was still blowing. I did not even try to start a fire with all the firewood that I had brought along.  :smt011

I also forgot to bring my sleeping bag and some warm cloths. I was expecting warmer climate but the wind was just too brutal.  :smt013

There was a kind gentleman named Larry camped right next to my site and offered me his extra sleeping bag and a jacket as well but I already had my kayak strapped and ready to go - so I thanked him anyway for his kind gesture. He caught 3 large catfish -  just fishing from the shore - he gladly shared his method - just two night crawlers on the hook - and use a sinker heavy enough to keep the bait from moving with the current. What a great guy!

maybe next time!  :smt002

How was the fishing?

Catfish eh?  Now a trip and camping here is sounding even better.  How close to the water are the camp sites.  I could do with some night fishing...

The camp sites are pretty much right on the water (depending on water level of course)

yeah...the night fishing is always a bonus...too bad most of the lakes around the Bay Area are closed to the public at night.   :smt011

I would have stayed if the wind had died down (and if I was better prepared with my sleeping bag and warm cloths)

The fishing could have better during the day but the wind definitley made it harder.....unless you were "Mr. Hot-Stick-Bill". HE did most of the catching despite the wind factor.

That is due to my modified Fenwick Rogue.

I took the front treble off since the only thing is seems to be good for is hooking your finger as you try to extract your lure from the fish. I replaced the back treble with a custom tied bucktail with red tinsel and a black feather. I will try to post a pic tonight.

Every fish I caught was hooked on the rear treble so I think it really helped.

Bill - if you don't mind, I'll be making the same modifications with my lures as well - you made me a believer!   :smt023 Thanks for sharing your mod  :smt002

No problem I will try to tie a few more of those this week. I could tie them on single hooks as well.

Joel,

I do not think Larry wanted that info known.  I will e-mail him and find out.
But, then again, too Late....

You think there is a less supply of everything.  No wonder we catch limits every where.

Joel,

My last statement to you.....WE have 72 users and only 3 guys that will tell everyone how to fish.

Wow, whatever.

Its no big deal.  It is not a surprise that there are catfish in there.  Not a secret either.

Guess I need to call 10 of my buddies and bring out two rods each, catch our limits every night for a week!!!!  LOL!!!

The only reason I expressed any surprise/interest is that I was focused on stripers.

Damn, can't tell anyone that there are stripers in the forbay!!

Get real people.

Mo Bass,

What I can tell you have only fished Loch Lomand a few times.  Since coming up from the south.

These Cat are big.  Takes a while to grow that big.  Joel even want Larry number.  Why, because he knows he made a mistake again.
