I'm telling people paella at 4pm, within an hour of that I figure.
Speared fish are not permitted.  Hook/lure and line only.

Hell yeah!  Save some for us working folk.
If you want to thank a Vet, be a person worth fighting for.

I'm a huge paella fan, so I'll be looking forward to dinner Fri night!

Keeping my fingers crossed for good weather.

Cheers,

We're a week away and I gotta say, this is shaping up to be a pretty impressive group of anglers.  The forecast so far is for favorable conditions, no wind to speak of and no big swell.  Since I expected it to rain like cats and dogs all along (it always seems to rain near halloween and it is the "Fall" Classic) without a heavy downpour in the forecast, conditions should be better than anticipated.  Michelle suggested that since our sponsor, Guayaki Herba Mate (based in Sebastopol), loaded us up with so much product, we should have a hot pot of it brewing at the Weigh-In Station to meet the anglers.  So I put her in charge of it.  More Guayaki sponsorship-10 cases of mostly low carb/low calorie soft drinks plus 100 of the Guayaki Energy shots.  Please come by Tournament Headquarters, located at the group site as you drive in, to pick up samples and check-in.

Friday Paella -I just put a call into Gerard to let him know that since most folks are heading in from work, a late paella would be better than in the afternoon.  That might work out for him since he leaves Occidental crying with the last Farmers Market Paella of the season that day.  I will post an updated time for Friday Paella ASAP.

Special Raffle - Ben "Guitarzan" donated some crazy sculptures to the event.  We decided to make a special raffle that will continue the tradition of acknowledging our brothers with struggles and with a really generous angler show, bump up our contributions to SAC and Keep America Fishing.  I've seen Ben's sculptures, I'm in for $20.  Maybe more when they're done :smt001.  Remember, this is not the Tournament Raffle, each Registrant is entered in that one automatically.

I don't know what the turnout will be.  We have nearly 40 registered now with a few dozen more promised.  Locals could figure and Western Outdoor News ran our ad with "Registration on Friday the 26th" so we'lll see.  I'm guessing we'll see 50 anglers and that's just fine.
We'll set up Tournament Headquarters Friday morning.  The Weigh-in Station will be adjacent to the fish cleaning station at the top of the launch ramp on Saturday only.  I can't wait!

Hmm.. I might have to show up and say my name is Eric.

Really wish I could be there, still trying to see if there is a way I can make it. So much stuff going on every weekend.

Sorry we'll miss you Captain Morgan, I PM'd you about refunding your registration fee.  Add "let it ride for next year" to those options.

Waivers will be available at Tournament Headquarters so don't sweat it, you can do it on site.

Gerard said later is better Friday and not to worry, we'll put aside dinners for very late arrivals.  Letting me know if you plan to roll in late will help butr not necessary. I'm thinking we should serve Paella around 7pm? but I'm open to feedback on what will work best for the majority.  Please let me know if you are making a contribution and I could use an hour of help Friday to gather some secret ingredients.

Fishing, eating and hanging with my favorite section of outdoor folk....I don't get to do it enough.  Thanks everybody!

Thanks a lot Joe, I PM'd you.

The Saturday forecast is for perfect conditions.  A little rain early in the week should turn the water over some too.  There are heavy lings, cabs, coppers, vermillions and a few other rockfish species this time of year that are likely to make the difference in the 3 fish limit for 2nd-4th place prizes.  Then again, so could a greenling or perch.

Nice! 7pm sound good, I might actually make it for Friday night paella.

Just picked up a couple 9" big hammer toast at the ODP, didn't know they made the larger size.  Can't wait for the tourney to see how effective they are.

Those of you that miss the paella or want more, can catch Gerard on the way home at a cool Upick farm between Valley Ford and Petaluma on Sunday the 28th.

Hi Spike:

I would like to cancel my spot at Ocean Cove camping.  I still am coming for the tournament, but will not be staying at Ocean Cove.  Do I need to do anything else
to get my camping fees back?

Thanks

Thanks Ab Man, Bloomfield Farm is family.  I went to U Pick today and brought home the best tomatos we've ever had. Tomato/feta salad tasted like Europe. No kidding, the best.  Small beets too, half the load steamed and vacuum sealed into the freezer.  Squash, blossoms, some spuds, parsely, greens and peppers too.  Bloomfield uses mostly dry farming methods and some stuff (like beets) may be smaller but the flavor is all there. You get to pick A LOT of grub for $25 bucks and we're starting to freeze and put up some canning... depending on what the farm is producing a lot of that day.

Raydon, glad you're still coming, I refunded your campsite the way you paid it, via PayPal.  Thanks again.

Paella-With so many people on the road for hours to get there Friday night, Gerard said the Paella pans will be kept hot for awhile and likely until after 8pm.  Take your time getting to Ocean Cove, we'll have dinner saved if you roll in by midnight Friday.  The Paella wagon will be at Tournament Headquarters, the group site near the entrance at Ocean Cove.  There will be plenty of signage so you won't miss it coming in.  Please take all questions, inquiries and needs to Tournament Headquarters come Friday.
