We are launching at CALIFORNIA Canoe and Kayaks NOT HMB Kayaks. The link on the signup page is correct.

What's the procedure for day-of sign up?  Is there a cut-off time?

Nah, planning for 6am but wanted to know just in case.  I'm coming from Marin - how long will it take from the 280/92 interchange?

I am terrible at time estimates but I think it takes about 30 minutes from there.

92 is approx 6 miles of windy and hilly road.  Sunday AM I did it in 10 minutes as I had clear sailing (and I was driving the speed limits), but if you get stuck behind someone pulling a powerboat it could take a while as there are some steep downgrades.  Then from the Rt 1 and 92 intersection it's just a few miles north to Pillar Point Harbor.  You'll see a whole bunch of lights from the observatory on the hill over Mavericks on your left as you get close - as I recall it's the third stoplight, but it's well sign posted.

That sounds about right.  Should be about 1:15 from Marin - I've made that drive a few times but not recently.  See you around 6!

2) Are speared-fish allowed in the general award pool? If not, are there any awards for spearing?

Sorry... Rich, Fuzz, BigEye and our other beloved speros, but we're going to keep this derby exclusive to kayak fishing.  However, I would really like to consider it for a future derby.

Rich... if you wanna spear a great big halibut or ling and hang it on my fish hook from below, I won't object.  :smt002

I'll bring some homemade wine for the after party.

If anyone has empty wine bottles I would really appriciate if you could bring them. Last year we made too much wine and no bottles to put it in to.

Bill,
I will bring some Chips and Guac.

Also, I'm not planning on bringing home any fish, so I will fillet any keepers.  Any possibility of a hot pan of oil being around??????

Stuart

Brian we are not allowed to bring outside alcohol, this is against the Yacht clubs liquor license. Save it for Elk! :-)
