After hearing about the Donaldson Trout from BMB last year, I've been wanting to catch one.  Only our last trip was completely rained out Sat evening and all day Sunday  :smt010  Gonna hope the weather is good and plan on hitting it for the weekend.  Any and all are welcome!  :smt003

Out of curiosity, is that Friday Veteran's Day?

Wish I could join you but I'll have the little kids in tow and the lake is out of the question. :smt010   Look forward to the report though!

For what it's worth, I believe they've only started planting it with smaller fish.  I've heard they wait a little later in the season when the water has cooled down to plant the big boys.  Not to say that there aren't any holdovers, I'm just repeating the scuttlebutt.

Just read today that they will start planting 1,000 pounds of fish for the next 5 days.  Also, they plan on planting twice as many fish this year.

Seasonal weekly trout plants of up to 5000 pounds, averaging 2-6+lbs. each, provide not only fabulous fishing, but also the best catching ratio in the country. Besides trout, Lake Amador held the Largemouth Bass record for Northern California for over 10 years at 17.1 lbs., our bass fishing is simply superb!! Since there is NO WATERSKIING OR JET SKIS ALLOWED, the peaceful adventure on the 400-acre, 13 1/2 miles of beautiful Lake Amador shoreline will keep anglers returning again and again!

YES  :kick :headbang:

even though there are no jet skis or waterskiers there are still plenty of bass guys and other power boaters blasting around.  remember to make yourself visible with a flag or something.

Seems like it was last year, but I wasn't doing AOTY last year so it must've been early this year...
Why would I even go there if it were not for AOTY! :smt005
I'mma try and show up prob on Sat. for the day.
Gotta avenge my lost trout/only bite of the day last time.

Yeah this will be a weather dependent hookup for sure  :smt044 If it looks iffy we may just head up to Sara's parents cabin in Twain Harte and do some stream fishing.  Will know whats up as we get closer to the date!

From what I recall the ticket for catch them mutants is to use broken back Rapals and troll the damn area. Otherwise inflated night crawlers and power bait it is! Any other advice on this lake is appreciated!  Hoping to find one with "two holes"  :smt044
