If we have any last minute people that want to join call Aaron (Pacman) cell 707.496.1662. I will have you email or fax the forms in (707.443.6328), then I will have my head cashier call you up for c.c. payment over the phone. That will get you locked in. I need the fax or email first. Thanks anglers.

Hello everyone! I would like to thank you all for making the time to be apart of the fist of many Trinidad Rockfish Wars. To all the people that are driving up from out of town, welcome to Humboldt County. Our county was rated top ten best counties in the United States by National Geographic Magazine. Make sure you take the time to enjoy our redwoods, beaches and many little towns (Eureka, Arcata, Ferndale, etc).

Friday, 6:00pm, at Pacific Outfitters of Eurka (1600 5th Street) we will have a pre-tournament meeting. We will check in with everyone and go over all the rules and schedule of events. We will also be passing out tournament gift bags. If you cannot make the pre-tournament meeting, I can't promise you will have a gift bag, but I will make a large effort to reserve one for you. If you want a gift bag but can't make the pre-tournament meeting, than I suggest you send me an email and I will reserve you gift bag for Saturday.

Sunrise will be around 7am, so that will be the start of the tournament. I will be at the water at 6:30am. You must check in with me before you go out. Look for an easy up with Pacific Outfitters and LCKA banner. Last fish to turn in will be at 2pm. If you have any questions bring them to the pre-tournament meeting or shoot me an email.

Thanks again anglers,

It takes me 10 minutes to get to Eric's house and he's north of me so I think I may have the longest drive ahead of me (Fresno to Trinidad).   :smt047  Eight and a half hours of driving joy! Next year you guys should send out an invite to the NWKA guys. Pretty much any of them that live south of Portland, OR have a shorter drive than me and Eric.

I wanted to ask you guys if you think I need to bring my wheelez or is the tournament launch really close to the parking area? I just don't want to bring any gear I don't need.

Another question, do you guys know of any beaches that are good for surf fishing near Trinidad? We might work in a few hours of surf fishing on Friday and I'm hoping you guys can let us know some good spots you know of.

Thanks,
Scott

Yep, you got me.   :smt013

Long drive, but I think we are both going to have a good day. You can "exercise the demon" of that MBK salmon that got away.

It's OK, I've literally driven from one side of the state to the other for fishing tournaments in the last six weeks! La Jolla to Trinidad.

Bonfire sounds good maybe after the beers on clam beach or just skip the $4 beer and just drink them on the beach with the fire.
Any one camping that night.

Darius and I were planning to camp out on the beach if the weather permits and if other kayak anglers are doing the same (safety reason, don't want to be the only one doing it).  Reasons I'd like to camp out there is cuz it's cheaper and no drinking/driving.

Has anyone camp out on that beach before?

Changed my mind about camping out.  it's going to be 46 degree or lower at night.  The beach has no shower and I plan to do some recon on the water on Friday.

Found a super cheap hotel for $55 a night:

Hermes

Not sure this is the best neighborhood.  You may be able to pick up cheap companionship near this one.  It lists carpeted floors so it must be nice.  :smt001  One benefit is that it is close to pro sports center and lost coast brewery.  You might have some stories to share.

New developments for TRW1-

Looking for a place to stay:

The Holiday Inn Express in McKinleyville, CA. It's the closest hotel to Trinidad. They are giving us special rates. Normal rates are $140/night. Our rate is $94/night! Their hotel includes a Deluxe Complimentary Breakfast, Indoor pool/Jacuzzi and plenty of safe parking for trailers with kayaks and gear on them. Just say you want the Rockfish Wars rate. I blocked a bunch of rooms. Locals can take advantage of this too. Check out the link:

http://www.arcata-eurekahiexpress.com/

Awards Party:

Also, Holiday Inn Express has was kind enough to donate their "Pacific Room" for the awards ceremony after the tournament. We will shoot to have the Awards party around 5:00pm. That will allow everyone to wash up and look fresh. There will be appetizers, beer and soda for everyone. That should wrap up around 7ish and then people are free to do what they want to due for Halloween weekend. Arcata has lots of restaurants, live music, etc

Anyone else staying here? I'm going to book tomorrow. Thanks for working out that deal, Pacman.

Also, any of you locals know of any bars that will be showing the UFC fights Saturday night?
