NCKA speerfishing comp ? saw the an old post about it

I was going back threw some of the old post and saw one about an NCKA speerfishing comp ! what happend to this does this still go on and if so can I get some info on it ?

I don't think there is one going on, but I think it would be fun to do....if for nothing else except to see the beasts that some of the guys will end up spearing!!

If the mods don't feel like organizing it, I don't see why we couldn't do one just between friends?

SOTY format (spearo of the year?).

 

AOTY looks to be a simple uncontroversial format so I can't imagine there being any problems or controversy!!

I am gamed it would be fun, we should add a big ab div to it as well. 

I've thought about this from time to time.  I dont know how to set it up, but it would be cool to have a list of fish to spear and throw in an Abalone too.  Just like AOTY, certain fish worth so many points per inch.  It would be cool.  Maybe we could have some prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd place.  I'd love to be part of something like this.  Instead of making it start on the first of the year we could just have it start on whatever day we get it going by.  April 1st, May 17th, doesnt matter to me.  I just dont know how to really set it up besides having a thread on here where we post our biggest point earning fish/abs.  Then add up the points at the end of the season.  DOTY! Diver Of The Year!!!! Awesome, thanks for bringing it up Matt.  I'm sure we would need to get the moderators/administrators blessing first, but I love the idea.

I'm in if it comes together, I think amphibian aka Merv has just the organizational skill needed to set it up for Sunday May 15th at Shelter Cove.

Also, maybe the rockfish/perch species could be split up by species. because the main species targeted by diving up here would consist of:
-lingcod
-cabezon
-rockfish
-perch
-greenling
-halibut
-abalone
That's only 7, or 10 if you throw MFE, sheephead, and opaleye in there, though not as common.
