The looses crews have been asked if they ever have fun on the weekends.  The truth is; not often, but here's an exception.  The tides at Lawson's Landing are right for morning clamming most of the week of March 20th.  The plan is to arrive either late Saturday (3/19) and camp Saturday and Sunday night,  or arrive early Sunday morning (3/20) in time for the 7:50 A.M. minus tide.  There's another minus tide Monday morning at 8:10.  We're thinking we could dig clams Sunday morning and make chowder for dinner.  We could dig clams again Monday morning and take them home.  There could possibly be some kind of party at the campground Sunday night.  Lawson's takes reservations for camp sites at Lawsonslanding.com.  We plan to camp near the sea wall so it's just a short walk to the beach launch area.  We haven't finalized anything yet but I wanted to get this posted as early as possible in hopes that many of you will be able to join in the fun.

Jedmo,  Are you and your family gonna join in the fun?  I remember the great soup last year after a cold day on the water.

I will ask my commander in chief and see if she has any plans. If not, we will join
in the fun.

wow I am dying to take my daughter on her first camping trip and fishing adventure. Digging clams would be right up her alley. What is the paddle like from the launch to the beds? Mom will kick my ass but it sounds to fun to pass up!

Eric,  most of the trip to the beds is a pull over the sand on the way to the beds and a paddle on the return trip.  I don't think it's much more than a quarter mile but the paddle back can be a little challenging if the wind comes up.  We always attach a rope to the bow and pull the yaks across the sand.  Wheels aren't much good since it's an in and out of the water trip to the beds.  I don't see any reason kids couldn't do it.  A tandem yak might work well for kids but I think it's doable either way.  A tow line for the return trip is also a possibility.  There will be enough of us to lend a hand if needed.  Ernest brought his teen son last year and I think he really enjoyed the experience.  Digging Horsenecks at Lawson's is a really fun unique experience.  The Sashimi is amazing!

Besides I haven't had a chance to get in the yak for 2011 yet and I have bad cabin fever.
