Sounds like a fun group I'm going to try and make this no peddle boat but I grew up in Danville.

I think I might run out there for the day also. I have been wanting to try fresh fried clam strips for a long time now. will need to start looking for a big tube. About how long and wide are the dimensions you guys use?

I have a 18"x 3.5' PVC tube and a smaller 14"x2.5' barrel (given to me by Fred/IslandYak).   Some of us have bigger and smaller but all of them will work just fine.  If you don't have one, don't worry about it, we can share tubes among us.

Old post Sonny knows the size I drive by there twice a day

Sonny I spoke with my friend 18" thin wall PVC for $12 a foot he will cut for free. He makes a few of these and said the thin wall works a lot better than the reg stuff and it's a lot easier to lug around. His name is Kevin just tell him you know me and if you want to pick it up he prefers that you call ahead and he will pre-cut. I'll help out if I can but my schedule is a little wacky right now, I can at least get it to Santa Rosa and maybe a few to Dillion.

Dying to try this out, looks like so much fun.

EWB, if you go and I don't end up going, you can borrow my tube.  Its the huge one Sonny bought for me a couple years ago.

It's on for sure.  HobieDave, Sonny, and Daviator have all committed.  HobieDave called the campgrounds and was told there's no need to make a reservation since they never fill up at this time of the year.  He is planning on arriving sometime in the afternoon on Saturday (3/19).  It will be too late to dig clams but there may be some fishing opportunity.  We will meet near the sea wall Sunday morning around 7:15 and haul the yaks across the sand and shallow water to the beds and paddle back when the tide comes up and the clam buckets are full.  We plan to make chowder Sunday afternoon/evening.  I'm gonna make a big pot of white chowder and Dave plans to make a big pot of red.  I'm sure there will also be plenty of Sashimi.  If someone has a fryer they can bring, we could fry strips too.  The campgrounds don't have much in the way of facilities.  There are portable  toilets and water faucets, but that's about it.  I wouldn't worry about having a "tube" if you don't own one.  There should be plenty to share but everyone should bring a shovel if possible.  We usually dig in two man teams with one tube.  Some of us are going to stay over Sunday night and dig again Monday morning.

You and your "commander in chief" are more than welcome to join.  In facts, anyone here is welcome to join the fun.!

Fred,
It will be great to have you join in the slamming action again.  You can witness your tubes in action.

Would it be alright to join even though I don't Peddal?
I think I am still a Loose Screw

Erik aren't you the founder of "Loose Screws"???

thanks for making the long drive up...you will find that the fresh sashimi and fellowship is well worth the drive.

As for Hoibes...I am leaving mine and home...Martin is dead on..that Mirage Drive aint going to be fun in the shallow waters and mud..
I am bringing my OK tandem...good hauling...
I may try to hit Doran midday sunday and perhaps monday so I can bring some dungies to the feast... but for sunday night I will for sure have the seasoned rice and nori..

plus I have a propane fryer if anyone is inclined to fried anything but clams are best sashimi style..

Yakuza you'd better show up...you gotta keep the EWB guy in line...

besides shovels....try to gather good scoopers once inside the tube....needs to be stiff walled and decent diameter..
plus a 4x8 board helps getting the tube deep into the sand..

See you guys there.. I won't be there until mid afternoon sunday..
