Decent looking dogs, considering how warm it's been lately.

Craig - if you knew the effects coyotes have on sheep, deer, elk, turkey, etc. populations you might not feel quite as bad. Until I did some research I had no clue how devastating to other wild game coyotes and feral pigs have become.

It's sad to me, too...  but I understand.

But I suppose these are equal to rats or gophers...  the only two animals I kill without food in mind.

Those two looked to be really healthy.  Most of the coyotes I've seen are scraggly things.

I don't think I'd hesitate for a second pulling the trigger if I had a ranch full of sheep.

This article seems to contradict the notion they are taking down Elk, etc...

Quote
Coyotes kill destructive, vegetation eating rodents as they are 80% of a coyotes diet. Natural rodent control is always preferable to man made poisons and inhumane traps. Coyotes also eat insects and have saved many farms from insect invasions.

Coyotes almost certainly do humans more good than harm, however, they are opportunistic feeders. They will feed on whatever is most readily available and easy to obtain. Their primary foods are fruits, berries, rodents and insects. They will scavenge on animal remains as well as garbage and pet foods left outdoors.

With the gopher problem I have maybe I should get a coyote to keep in the yard.  Hmmm.

The only way to get rid of gophers is to pour cement over them so they cant pop up  :smt003 I fought them for a couple years, and finally just put down a bunch of stones and I haven't seen em since  :smt005

They weren't a problem before we were here.
